My 2016

The world is a big place, so obviously I wouldn’t know everything that happens all around it. When we watched the “google year in review” I hadn’t heard about half of the events shown in the video.

One of the clips that confused me the most was one that showed a rocket crashing into the ocean. After some research I learned that it was called the SpaceX. It exploded on September 1st, 2016 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The flight was just a prelaunch test but caused hundreds of millions of dollars to repair. The rocket was not the thing damaged though, when it exploded it damaged many communication satellites. I was very surprised that I had not heard of this event because of the mass destruction it caused. I think that the reason for my lack of knowledge on this topic is because it is not geologically concerning for where I live.   

One search trend that took me by surprise was the 3 Toed Sloth. This seemed very out of place withy the other topics like world events and celebrities. My idea of why this was so popular was because they look just like the ones in the Disney movie “Zootopia“. In the movie, one of the most hilarious parts features the sloths. I would think that because in the movie facts are shared about them, people would want to learn more about the hilarious creature.

I would add to my year in review, when I went to Disneyland. This was very fun and probably was the highlight of the year for me. I got to see old friends and new ones and make memories that will last forever. I think that was kind of the point of the “year in review”, because all of the memories made in 2016.
