Work Place Safety

Our class has recently been learning about workplace safety and how to keep yourself safe on the job, especially as a young worker. Did you know that one young worker in BC is injured every hour?! Did you also know that young workers are at a higher risk of injury than adult workers? I’ve learned some scary statistics about workplace safety, as well as some helpful information about my rights as a young worker.

Many young workers put themselves at higher risks because they want their superiors to think highly of them. Therefore young workers tend to ask less questions about the job and tasks their given. Which leaves them in positions where they don’t know how to properly and safely manage a job that is given and exposing themselves to risks. 

 

 

As a young worker you have the right to an orientation or intro to the work place and job within. Training on how to do your specific job within the work environment. As well as supervision at the start of your job to ensure your competent in the work environment.
