Over the past nine days our grade nine class traveled across B.C. and Alberta on a road trip. Over those nine days we learned about how the land impacts our identities. We were asked to create a video of how the land of BC and AB impacts the people that live there. We interviewed people at all different stops and putt together a video to explain what impact the land has on these people and how it’s changed their identities.
At the Northern Lights wolf centre Gabby, Kiera and I interviewed a woman who was quite knowledgeable. I started to understand the driving question a bit more and how the land does really impact our history.
First Nations Peoples were very connected to the land and the animals that lived there. Wolf’s were and are one of their there spirit animals, and played a huge role in there culture and their identities. Our history is apart of us, it explains our past and who we are as a provenience and a nation. This is something I knew I could incorporate in my identity Video because it is true how our history shapes who we are. We wouldn’t be here today If it wasn’t for the people before us.
One of the biggest things I learned on the trip was that anything can change your identity and it’s what you choose to take in that makes you who you are. The land obviously has a huge impact on your identity because not only is it your home but it’s where you learn new things every day. Whether it’s your community, your country or the world it’s all your home and it all changes the person and the people we are.
This is a poem I wrote about identity
Even though the world is filled with billions of people, you are special.
Everyone has their own identity.
Until next time 🙂
I really liked your video and how you explained where Leo Downey was from.
I think that it would be helpful if you added a more precise answer to the question.
