Hello again, back with another post this time I have to do it on humanities. This post is about our massive second unit, how do ideas drive change. This includes knowing cause and consequence, evidence, create shared understanding. The focus for this is revolutions. Along with the main project we had another thing, the book report. This time around we read a book called revolution but more on that later. Now it is time to get into the project and how we did it. Also in my group where Kaden, Brenton, and jude
the first thing we did as we all know is launch. This is the first of many many milestones for this project. For launch we started of with a fun activity about sources and information. We had to record our finding for each station on a pages document.Open Exploring evidence here is my full pages document from this activity. After this fun activity we got to know our revolutions and what video formats to include for each one. The revolutions where, french, Russian, American, and whatever one you wanted. We had to make one video for each revolution. The video choices we had where, rap, animation, explanation/animation, And act it out. Now that you know some background info lets get into the process
The first revolution we where to study and do a video on is the French Revolution. This is also when we started the book which is a story about the French Revolution. Now lets get into the French Revolution.
the first thing we did of course, was to study the French Revolution. For each revolution our teacher made a very well done keynote on the Revolution. That was a big part of the research but for our group we also needed some more stuff. We went to various websites. We used history.com, and Wikipedia for this one revolution. we needed to final cause and consequence for this video and so we tried. Cause: food shortages and huge taxes, and massive debt. Consequence: no more monarchy, reign of terror, napoleonic era. After research we got into pre pre-production.
After research we started pre-production we got into making the screenplay and the script. For our first video we decided to go with a animation/explanation type video. This is a type of video that needs a big script so we got right to work. Our script used all the note we made and we thought it was half decent for our first one. Here is our script.
After the script we got right to filming. We filmed the video in one day using a little of to the side section of our school where it was quiet. After filming we got right into editing and making music for this video. After editing we revised that our mic was broken so the audio is a little off. Anyway here is our final video.
This project was a no revise system so we went plodding on to or next video. The next video was on the American revolution. This time we decided to do an act it out. We liked the idea of acting so we got down to business. We did the research using just the teachers keynote and Wikipedia this time. the cause for the American revolution was unlawful taxation. The consequence was freedom and the making of a new country, America. We did the screenplay which had all the voice over lines in it and we got ready to film. Here is our script.
We got right into filming with me, Thomas as the main actor. For some scenes we decided to use a couple of extras as you will see in the video. Anyway here is our final product.
Again putting our bosses back to the grindstone for the next video. This next video is on the Russian revolution. For this video our group came up with the questionable decision to make a rap. I don’t like rap that much but here we are. We got right into it again with the research. This time the cause was food shortages and heavy losses in WW1 and terrible leadership. Consequence: the establishment of the Soviet Union and a civil war that took 9 million lives. This time it was different because it is a rap but here it is.
Now for our final video. For this final draft we decided to do the Russian revolution. This decision was made mostly because it is the one we knew the most about and it is the one we had the most props for. This was also around the time we finished the book. So I’m first going to talk about the book.
The book was called revolution and is about a fictional girl named and Alpers. She is a depressed/suicidal girl because of the death of her brother. Her mom is also depressed and her dad who is a world famous scientist is never around. One day her dad comes to visit and decides to hospitalize and I mother and to take and I to paris to work on her thesis. She goes to paris where she and her dad stay at a friends. Her dad is there to find out whether a heart found is the one of louis Charles, the lost prince of France. She finds a journal of a girl from paris when the French Revolution is taking place. Get intrigued with this journal and she will go on a adventure. If you want more on the plot here is a link. When we where done this book we had to make something that would reflect on the book. I chose to make a drawing Here it is.
Anyway, back to the final video. We got to work with the screenplay and ideas for our video. We already had some research done from the last video so it was easier for us to research this one. Here is the screenplay we came up with.Open Blank 51 then we got on to filming. We did to days of filming. One day at my house and one day at the school. Here is the final draft for the video we made.
