Take your kid to work

Hello again, it Thomas forced to do another blog post. This time it is o take your kid to work day. This is another maker project that we are doing and this one was very cool. It is a short project about take your kid to work day. We had to make a video for this project like normal. I went to my dads work for one day with a friend and I am going to tell you about it.

We first heard about this project about a week before it started. We knew that we would be making a video for it and we also knew that will a project also comes a blog post. So here we are. For the take your kid to work day video the criteria was we needed a interview with one of the people at the work place and a explanations about where we are and things like that. So I made a checklist and got ready for the big day. (also I should mention that my friend Rowan came with my dad and I).

the day came and we got p and went to my dads work downtown. He works at an engineering firm called SNC Lavalin. We got to my dads work and we signed in and went right to a meeting room where we met all the other kid who came to take your kid to work day at SNC Lavalin. There where about ten of us in total. We got some breakfast and then got into our first presentation. The first presentation was from a worker in Human Resources.he was very good and told us a little on workplace safety and what he does in the building. We then took a quick break. Then we got an presentation about the clean energy division. This told us about all the dams and such that SNC Lavalin where building around the globe right now. While all this was going on I was getting footage and that sort of stuff. After the presentations we got to have a couple of engineering challenges. Our first challenge was to build a tower out of spaghetti and tape. The catch was we had to put a marshmellow on top. Our group came second. The second challenge was to make a boat out of tinfoil and some straws. The challenge was to have as many nickels as possible sit in your boat. Our boat held 130 nickels and a pair of scissors, we won! After the challenges and lunch we got to job shadow our parent for a bit and this is where I got my interview.

I interviewed one of my dads friends and co-worker. He was really nice guy and he was very happy to help me and answer my questions. I asked him multiple things and he gave very good answers. You can see most of the interview in my video down below. After the interview the day was over and we went home. Now I am editing my video and it will be two to three minutes long. Here is my video about take your kid to work day.

Thank you very much for reading this entire blog post and watching my video, see you in a couple days.
