Hello and welcome back to my blog. Today is the day. We are finally finished the first podcast episode of the year. This was the first major project of the year and it was definitely one of the tougher ones that I have done in PLP, however I believe the final product was worth it all. I will be going over what really helped shape this podcast over the last month and a half.
Before we go into some of the assignments and how I think they affected me we have to talk about the competencies and driving question. There were two competencies used in the process of this project. These competencies were used in every milestone of the project.
- Social Studies 10, Establish Historical Significance
- English 10, Comprehending Text
The driving question of this project was “Who is the greatest Canadian?” My answer to this question had to be related to the ultimate theme of my podcast, skiing. My answer to the main question can early in the project. My choice for the greatest Canadian was Alexandre Bilodeau. If you have any questions or want learn about him listen to my podcast linked below. Now that you know the competencies and the driving question let’s get into the learning.
Now that the driving question has been asked, it has to be answered. After my extensive research I stand firm behind my choice for the greatest Canadian in skiing. Alexandre Bilodeau is an amazing and extremely talented man who impacted Canadian identity in many ways. If you want to listen to all the reason you should take a look at my podcast. One big reason is because he, as a Canadian won the first gold medal on Canadian soil. This was a cause for huge national celebration and a big morale boost for Canada in the Olympics. In conclusion I stand behind the choice for choice for the greatest Canadian and if you want the extensive list of reasons you should listen to my episode one of my podcast.
This project has been highly interesting and kinda fun as well. There were many fun little parts of this project but the part that I felt I enjoyed the most was probably the start. The workloads was smaller and the assignments were enjoyable fun and manageable. My favourite assignment in particular was probably milestone 2. I found that this milestone was super interesting as I found a lot about my choice for the greatest Canadian in the process of completing in this milestone. I also think that I used the English 10 competency quite well in this assignment. I used my English 10 knowledge to write and create a quality timeline document of my choice for the greatest Canadian Alexandre Bilodeau. This lead to me meeting my grade contract percentage first try.
This project was everything you would want a project to be, fun, interesting and enjoyable. There were not to many parts of the project that I felt that I disliked. One thing that I didn’t like but was necessary for me getting my contracted grade was the podcast episode revisions. The reason that I felt I didn’t like this was because I didn’t properly read the critique every time I received it. This lead towards monotonous revisions mostly due to my personal error. It was frustrating when I was in the process but once I finished it felt good and I saw how it was necessary for my contracted grade. In the end of the process of revisions I exceeded expectations and achieved a rainbow grade on the final product. I think that I didn’t quite meet the standards on the competencies and that led toward me having to revise until I properly used them.
This project had many important lessons and contained many good, fun and important assignments and milestones but I can think of two that take the cake. One of the assignments is where I think I learned the most technically and one is where I thought I learned the most about the competencies. Milestone 5 in my opinion contained on of the most important thing I learned this project. That lesson was how to properly mix. Mixing is such a big part of making a podcast. If you don’t know how to mix your podcast audio will not be balanced or sound nice.
The assignment that I felt I learned the most about in regards to the competencies is probably milestone 3. This was just a research document but I think it really helped me understand historical significance. Understanding historical significance was a huge part of the project, so understanding it was quite important to finishing the podcast episode with historical significance involved.
Well, this is all I have time for today. I really hope you learned something about my understanding of the project and the driving question. In summary this project was everything I like in a project, interesting, kinda fun and had some cool information to be learned.
