The title is referring to the movie Titanic because this post involves shinking ships ( this is the extensiveness of my creativity )
It seems that our paths have crossed again, which is extremely convenient, because that is how the Halifax Explosion started. As I said previously, my post with be about the historic events behind the Halifax explosion. During the 20th century, the Halifax explosion was the largest man-made explosion known to mankind, before the atomic bomb. Almost 2000 people died in this monstrosity and 9000 people were injured, all because two ships, the SS Mont-Blanc and the SS Imo collided in a harbor located in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
(The blast radius of the Halifax Explosion)
My group, consisting of Cashel, Chris, and Nash, was tasked with creating a news report that covered a brief explanation of the Halifax explosion. Our first challenge was to set a date that we could all meet up and finish this project, it just so happened that it was two days before it was due. The plan of action was to do the script, set up the green screen and film the whole project within the day. Surprisingly enough, we accomplished our goals, but with great difficulty and the loss of a Saturday evening. Most of the time that was lost was setting up the lights for the green-screen, trying to adjust the lighting so it was even over the green-screen.
Here is the video I hope you enjoy my news anchor skills.
I have learned quite a bit from this project, mainly don’t leave assignments to the last minute. Learning about the Halifax explosion was very intriguing, I had never even heard of the Halifax Explosion before this project, yet it was one of the largest man-made explosions during the 20th century. Also, I now have the basic skills and knowledge of how to use Final Cut Pro X and how to fold up a green-screen successfully.
