Hello people so week number 1 went by super SUPER fast and I don’t even know what to say… lets just start off by explaining that we are all divided into groups of 4 with 6 people and from there, two people are architects (drawing blueprints), two people are engineers (actually building the machine), and two are storyboarders (MEEE… documenting the whole thing including the process and holding everything together).
So now that you got that… We figured out a basic idea of what we are going to do with the metaphors we came up with earlier… yeah except the fact that EVERYONE KEEPS FORGETTING TO BRING IN THE SUPPLIES. Yeah so basically we sitting in class and the only people actually doing any legit stuff are the architects.
Anyways week one I would say was a failure for our group… good luck next week.
ARE FIELD TRIPS EDUCATIONALLY EQUAL TO THEIR COST?
For our Ethics project, we basically got put into groups of approximately 4 people to have a debate on the topic given (one group per side so 8 people per topic). The topic we were given was Be it resolved that field-trips do not provide an equal educational value to their cost.
My group was on the affirmative side meaning No they do not. AND GUESS WHAT… WE WON!!!! Yeah it was pretty amazing but in the end we (being both affirmative and negative) were combined after the debate to create an educational video about the topic showing parts of both sides.
http://youtu.be/LfiRbZ7ax5Q
We came up with who this video was targeting and decided mainly on who this was all directly affecting being students and youth who are going on these field trips. We contacted officials, researched some online stats and also got opinions from various people and as a result, our video came together to be pretty cool actually!
We made sure to incorporate both sides and all opinions to create a pretty mutual video. As for my part, the filming was a challenge and the walk to the school was honestly too long (believe me I know) but the interview with the kids turned out great! (Thanks a lot guys ;D ) Hope you enjoy and what side are you on in this debate?!
5 Things You (probably) didn’t know about the Declaration of Independance
Heyz people so now I will be sharing… 9 facts about the Declaration of Independence that (hopefully) you didn’t know! So these will be a straight forward summary of the facts, for more information just google them and you should find lot’s of evidence of the following so lets just get into this casual Blog Post about the American Revolution.
Fact number one… SO WHO KNEW THAT THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE WASN’T SIGNED ON JULY 4TH?! I thought it was but apparently not because July 4th (Independence Day for you states people) was just the day the Declaration was officially adopted… the actual signing would take place around a month later.
Fact number 2… more than one copy of the document existed. Sure there was just one “Official” document but before the signing and after the adoption, overseen by the Committee of 5, took place the reproduction of the approved text. These copies called the Dunlap Broadsides would then be distributed to the 13 colonies to printing presses, officials, troops and others in a high standing. Hundreds of copies were believed to have been printed however only 26 have survived to this day. Most are held in museums and libraries while 3 are privately owned.
Fact number 3 was when the Declaration reached NewYork and was read aloud to the people, all the people broke out cheering and started a riot against the British Navy present. The statue of George III was melted down into 42,000 musket balls for the growing American Army. O.O
Fact number 4, there were 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence however 8 were born in Britain. All other delegates were born in America.
And finally FACT NUMBER 5, one of the delegates, Richard Stockton was captured, thrown in jail, and tortured and after many months with small amounts of food and this harshness, he revoked his signature on the Declaration and swore Allegiance to King George III. Broken when he was given back his freedom he took a new oath of loyalty to the state of New Jersey.
For me after finding these facts, it feels like I’m searching unknown and forgotten things from the past and it’t not necessarily true but the fact that these cool facts are so not well know is so weird because they are amazing yet they were forgotten or lost to many. THANKS ANYWAYS AND GOOD BYE.
WE DIDN’T WRITE OUR NAME ON THE CHOICE SHEET!!!…
As you will see in the following video, we have been assigned this new project on the American revolutions. There were 4 choices and four groups but sadly although our first and desperate choice was the French revolution, no we didn’t get it FOR NOT WRITING OUR NAMES AT THE TOP OF THE CHOICE SHEET.
Anyways we got second choice and decided to take the american revolution and this is really going to be interesting to see what we will do and how we will make this work.

We are working in groups of 6 and I decided to be DRI (directly responsible individual) and being that, life has no choice but to get harder. Gud luck to me and hope it all turns out well!
Aparthied
In class we learned about Global Conflicts that have happened (or are happening) around the world and were put into groups of 3 to create an Explain Everything video. The conflict we got for this was Apartheid and it is actually so much sadder then you would think. It basically controlled everything going on in their lives and is so much worse then I ever would have thought. No it is not just social discrimination but control over their lives. Anyways hope you enjoy so Bye Bye.

Do Dreams tell the truth, past, or future?
I for one thing have to agree with Mercutio on the fact that dreams are just nonsense… I don’t exactly think I’m going to be chased around a building by a mud monster and escape with a car attached to a hot air balloon. Even though Romeo thinks they are true or have some kind of meaning, I find that with my own dreams, they are just strange things from my own imagination often affected by things that have happened, things that I know and stuff from books or movies. I feel like my dreams are just my imagination running wild.
Usually I don’t remember my dreams or they just don’t make sense at all… like sometimes I’m one person then suddenly I’m someone else looking through a different perspective, only I don’t realize it. Other times they just jump around everywhere like in one moment I’m in a building just walking, and then all of a sudden I’m a pirate… but it doesn’t seem weird when it transitions like that because I don’t even really realize it almost like I’ve been brainwashed.
I can’t say this is a fact, but what usually happened with me in the past was I would wake up at like 6:00, and then go back to bed and fall asleep but strangely have a dream where I actually knew it was a dream… then I would go and do the strangest craziest things like jumping off roofs because I knew it wasn’t real. Apparently, there is an entire subculture of people that practice this “Lucid Dreaming” using different methods to even control there dreams! When I was really little I had this theory that when I saw others in my dreams, they we were sharing that dream and seeing the same things so I believed I could contact them through my dreams sometimes asking them to wake me up!
I definitely love my dreams though not all of them, but I have to say that I don’t believe in dreams telling the future or past. To me, I just think that dreams are something that are made when my imagination just goes loose to think up whatever it wants… and then I just get dragged along! Don’t get me wrong though because this is just my opinion and I think dreams could maybe affect the future in a way that it either changes a persons way of seeing things or inspire them!
Sonnet
The Meadow
Warm earthy scents ride summers late breeze
The sound of splashes ripple through the free flowing glass
Bright rays of light seep through the tall trees
Splattering the light cast onto the grass
Soft tufts of white drift high in the air
Colourful jewels gleam in the meadow
A scene rolling out far a beauty so fair
But Fall cloaks the land with leaves and colours now mellow
The crisp cool airs soft scent tainted by autumn
Shadows of white drifts down in a cold daze
hiding behind winters spell summers day now forgotten
laying still beneath shades of white and blue she lays
before winters still faze of cold fades away
and spring blooms forth and shines the day

WELCOME TO MY STUDENT LED CONFERENCE BLOGPOSTS!!!
While making these blog posts I really was able to reflect on my past mistakes and achievments and I think writing all this stuff has really hammered it all into my brain… especially the things I need to improve on. I hope you enjoy!

Younaās Progress FLIGHT 9 Progress! 2015
ā¢ Performance and effort thus far
Overall in the first half of this school year being in FLIGHT 9, I think I have learned a lot of new things that I probably couldnāt have in any other program such as learning to make the most out of technology and different apps.
ā¢ Study habits
I still have difficulties with staying on top of assignments, due dates, and doing my work diligently but I think that I have improved a lot in incorporating technology and different formats into my work and using research of my own along with my own ideas to complete projects.
ā¢ What are your strengths as a learner?
My strengths in school are being able to research and understand most of the things we are learning about in depth and being able to easily access that information later on for assignments and projects. For example, with the Cray Cray Yay Yay Keynote, I could easily remember the things that I had read about Frank Lloyd Wright making it super easy to answer all of the questions that others asked me. I also have really good short term memory, which is honestly
ā¢ What are your challenges as a learner?
Iāve realized that I need to improve the structure of my writing and maybe increase the variety of words that I use because after having to write more āstructuredā essays and paragraphs, I found that all of my info was scattered around everywhere instead of leading to the point I was aiming for. One example of this would definitely be my Gates essay (first draft) where I just took all of my information and put it together without any particular order or ending conclusion.
I also have trouble with staying on top of my work not because I donāt have enough time to complete it but rather because I procrastinate and thatās something that I definitely need to work hard on to fix as soon as possible.
ā¢ How can you take your academic performance to an even higher level?
I need to work on structuring my written work so itās main point is clear and understandable and I need to work on getting assignments completed ahead of time so I have time to improve, edit, and revise it rather than doing it last minute and not having time to edit or getting caught up with other unexpected things like more homework or incase we go somewhere and run out of time.
ā¢ What are your social and participation strengths and challenges?
My strengths in working socially and in groups would be contributing to ideas and information and doing as much as I can. I would definitely make the Seattle Cray Cray Yay Yay project an extremely good example since I feel that I did a ton of work to pull the video and script together. Being DRI in that project especially made me work harder to improve the end result and I found it really hard trying to get the others in my group to work, but in the end it all worked out. I think my challenges would be getting others to listen to my ideas and my opinions because I have a hard time speaking up and sharing what I have to sayā¦ especially when itās infront of the class.
ā¢ How have you grown in the classroom this year as a young adult?
This year Iāve learned many valuable (and hard) lessons and skills that will definitely help me in the future. For example, I learned the (very) hard way that I shouldnāt underestimate how important time management is even in āeasyā assignments. Time management is something that I have continuously struggled with but this year, I took the easy work for granted and pushed it off and honestlyā¦ small stuff piled up over time REALLY adds up!!! The big example for this was the Into Thin air reading and I can read a few chapters in no time really and I can read an entire book the same size in literally two days (InkHeart) if Iām into it, but I really canāt if itās something that long and Iām reading it for just school. I learned a lot about using different ways to present my work that typically in a regular class would have just been filling out a worksheet or answering questions. In FLIGHT though, I had the opportunity to present my work in various ways such as preziās, keynotes, brochures, skits, and the most interesting one for me was using iMovie!
Humanities Progress
This is an essay that will always take me back to that day when we were all stuffed into the lounge at 9:00pm and told to write a 500 word essay on the Gates Foundation. I was so tired and wanted to sleep so rather than focusing on the writing component, I kind of have to admit that I focused most of my time trying to extend ways to say one thing such as adding words like āvery, extremely, amazing, soā and etc. So that was embarrassing but I think I did a good job at gathering examples and information to support what I was saying. One example for this would be the part where I was describing the mosquito trap and the process they used to create the foundation
I found out last year that I have a really really good short term memory that helps me when I am studying for tests, quiz’s, projects, and assignments. So basically I study, do the work, and forget everything. (I am starting to wonder if this is my brain adapting to classroom ways?) This has helped me a lot with my tests in particular but I think thats it’s really bad ghat I just forget everything after because then I feel like I learned and did all that stuff for no reason and I think thats what makes it a weakness as well as being a strength. As I have probably talked about (or will talk about) I have very very poor time managment and creating a time line I find helps a lot with this so I still need to improve in that area for sure before I get caught in big trouble in the future. I love doing these projects rather than just tests and notes because it helps me remember so much more and that was honestly why I wanted to join Flight before highschool. I had already realized in Gr. 6 that projects worked really well for me. My biggest goal for the next half year in Humanities other than time managment would probably be increasing my writing skills.
For me, my favorite and best work in this class would have to be the Frankenstuffie
Project and the http://goo.gl/vmd0h5. I think I was able to learn alot and increase my video editing skills and expand ideas to create these to projects. You can probably tell that there is a big difference in levels and I think that this class has really helped me increase my level. I have to admit they weren’t easy assignments but they were definitely worth it!
