Why was the cold war such a long period with little fighting? Because the Russian President was Stalin.

Before this project, my knowledge on the Cold War was limited to “Nuclear Bombs” and “Russia = Bad”. Luckily, I would come to learn quite a lot about the Cold War, and this project’s final product would help me share my knowledge with the world. So let’s begin.

This project “unofficially” started right before spring break. While on vacation, we were tasked with reading as much of the book “Hiroshima” by John Hersey as possible. I didn’t think that I’d enjoy reading a book about war while on vacation, but this would prove to be an easier task than I thought. The first few pages alone would be enough to captivate my attention, sharing the stories of Hiroshima’s few survivors. The aspect of the book that stayed with me the most, was how the residents were shown as having lives akin to those in the states. Minus the the constant air raid sirens.

Another text that we read during this project, was Fallout by Todd Strasser. What the author was trying to portray with this book, was how he thought 10 everyday people would react to staying in a nuclear bunker meant for 4 people for weeks on end. This book serves as a social commentary on the potential consequences of nuclear warfare, and the importance of nuclear disarmament.

Now unlike most projects in the past, we could make pretty much anything for our final product. Of course we did have some criteria our product had to meet.
