To satisfy the PLP teachers, we must make a post on blogs definitively PROVING that we are PLP learners. I’m not sure what they will do if the deem us not PLP learners, since we are currently in the program with the iPads, Apple Pencils, and cases that they wanted us to buy. In this post, we will look back and reflect on our learning we did in September and early October.
First, lets take a look at our Digital Selfie!
Digital Selfie
For this, we went to a local park and took selfies. I had no idea what to take so I took this: a picture of me holding a snail.
Then we had to mark it up to make it cool and better😎
This assignment was meant to show us how to use the markup on the Photos app which I learned how to do. I probably could have made it better by marking this up a little more. This project was fun because we had 20 minutes to take as many selfies as we wanted, so I took some silly ones, like this one, where’s I am being dragged down a slide to my inevitable doom by some horrible monster. Haha.
Behold, the next assignment, a writing thingy! (Seamless transition right here!)
The writing thingy
For this we had to write a journal entry dated 10 years into the future. On the day the queen died. Yah. Anyways, here’s mine.
September, 2032?
My name is David Bach, and I am writing this in case I don’t survive. I believe it is somewhere around September 2032, however I have no way of knowing. A lot has happened since 2022. As you know, nearly 10 years ago the Queen died and King Charles took the throne. About 3 years after the death, King Charles was assasinated by an Irish official, kicking off a war between Ireland and the UK; the official start of WW3. Earlier that year, tension between France and the UK were rising. France saw the weakened Britain and decided to invade, and other countries joined sides. Global warming killed 1 million people world wide, however, many officials still believed it was a hoax. One of these people was Donald Trump, who was re-elected in 2027, and was soon assasinated, which caused the second American civil war. Around this time I built a survival bunker, just in case. In 2029, Coronavirus-28 killed 6.6 billion, global warming killed 1.1 billion and nuclear fallout by the USA and the new superpower, France, killed 2.1 billion making the total population only 1 million. To my knowledge, I am the last survivor. My food is running low. Soon I must venture out into the world, and face what ever horrors it may bring. Monsters? Cannibals? Waring factions? I cannot say. All I know is that I will know soon…
This assignment helped me with expressing my creative ideas in writing. Now, I’m not too sure that this is what they expected when they said to write this. I think I was supposed to write about me and how great the future is, not some random guy named David Bach living in a bunker after World War Three, but, regardless, I am happy at it’s turnout.
Now, lets look at our Laptop MeMoji
Laptop MeMoji
For this, we had to make a MeMoji with a laptop with our own stickers on it. Here’s mine.
This assignment was to show us how to use shapes, image fill, gradient, and colour to make stickers on Keynote with some effects like shadow. I probably could have made it better by fixing the eyes, which look scared and sad.
I may look sad and scared in my MeMoji, but overall, this was a good time. All right, enough of this. Let’s look at my User Manual!
The User Manual
For this project, we had to base our manual on a mentor text, which was Mrs Kadi’s User Manual. We had to use the same format, font, and basic layout. Here’s mine.
In this assignment I learned how to work off of a mentor text and learned how to do peer reviews.
This assignment was very fun to do because you had to say things about yourself in third person and got to put some gags in there. All righty, lets look at the Worldview MindNode!
The Worldview MindNode
This was one of the first assignments for the project From The Outsiders Looking In. The title is fairly self explanatory: we had to make a MindNode with each element of worldview; knowledge, values, beliefs, economy, society, geography and time. Mine is below.
After this we had to make a picture with one element of worldview. Mine is here.
After that, we had to make a voice note about why we chose that element of worldview in the picture. I’m not sure how to get a voice note into this, but just know this: it was the best voice note in the history of the world, and the teacher’s socks were indeed knocked off.
This assignment I learned about what a MindNode is and how to use it. This assignment was more difficult than the others to complete, which I blame on the voice note. I’m not used to talking to anyone, let alone my iPad and teacher. I think my MindNode is the best part of the assignment, because of how much I wrote. A part that I could have done better on is definitely my drawing, which feels kind of lack lustre.
And the last assignment I will be looking at in this post is… drum roll please…(🥁rumrumrmumrmr🥁…) THE ELEVATOR PITCH!
The Elevator Pitch
For this assignment, you had to make a video trying to convince a director to make a movie out of a book. BUT, you’re on an elevator, and you only have about a minute to pitch the idea. Here’s the link to mine (and, no, it’s not a rick roll) https://youtu.be/rQ19aZb3SfU
This was probably the funnest thing to make, mainly because I got to hide in a bin and scare my sister, but also because I got to design the script, act in it, and direct it. The assignment was to make sure that we knew how to use Clips and how to hand it in on Showbie, which, not to brag or anything, I did.
Conclusion
All these assignments were meant to build our learning and our resolve to and work in on time and make work that we could be proud of when showing to teachers and peers.
I So, who am I as a PLP learner? I am a PLP learner who stays on top of things. I am a PLP learner who likes and has fun in the PLP Program. I am a PLP learner who cares about the work that I hand in. I am a PLP learner who wants to have fun. I am a PLP learner who has a good work ethic. I am a PLP learner who is a good fit for PLP. I think…
Awesome job on your blog, Adam! I will be stalking you throughout the year to hear more about your PLP adventures.
