Ā
Recently, PLP 9 went on a field school to the Rocky Mountains. It was amazing! Seeing all the nature and wildlife, it inspired me to go back to school to answer our driving question of āHow might I use the moving image to tell a story.āĀ
Silent Film
This film was filmed at the Three-Valley Gap ghost town. By making this video, I learned how to plan a video in advance by using the story spine and I was able to collaborate in my group.
TikTokĀ
Ā For this video, I had to come up with an idea. I decided that my TikTok would be about social media V.S. Reality. After I had filmed things for the TikTok video I realized I didnāt know what I wanted my video to look like and also needed a have a plan to organize the video, which was a bad idea. So, I made a genius planā¦ I procrastinated until I got an idea that I could use. I definitely should have known what my video was supposed to look like before filming all the shots. Thankfully, I was able to find a sound to go along with it and was able to use my videos from the Rockies to create something that I am proud of.
Investigative VideoĀ
For this video, we got to come up with a thesis based on the driving question. Mine was āTourists come to the west because of itās unique geography, natural beauty, rich history, and friendly and safe culture.ā I try to avoid speaking to people, so I didnāt know and ask them for an interview. But, whenever I was in doubt about my interview skills, I just remembered that Iām not doing it wrong if nobody knows what Iām doing. Overall, everyone I interviewed were all very friendly and had helpful responses to my questions. This video helped me improve my communication skills and was actually my favourite video to film because I talked to people and I walked away with a sense of accomplishment.
What Inspires Me Video
After we went to Alberta, we got the chance to make one more video. This one was about what inspires me. We only had a week to plan and film this video, so I felt little stressed, especially when my video wouldnāt save to my device and I had to ask for help (yikesšØ!). Luckily, we were able to find a way around it. I was a little worried about making a exceptional video in this amount of time, but I am happy with the results.
By making these videos, Iāve learned about conducting interviews, editing, reflecting on my inspirations, and communicating with group members to create a moving image. I can now use these skills on other projects to advance my learning further.
