Run(ning Away From Monsters)!

Hi! Recently in Maker, we were given the opportunity to create a remake of the short film “Run!” Here’s the original:

The original follows a jogger on a trail, who is being chased by a monster. The original uses a variety of sounds and angles to portray emotions and create suspense.

To remake this film we learned about how to use angles and sounds to make a more immersive experience. For this project, we worked in groups of 4. I worked with a talented crew made up of Kennedy, Lucas A, and Jack.

Our first draft of “Run” felt quite rushed; our audio wasn’t lined up, some of the shots didn’t match, and there was some lens distortion because we used a GoPro. So, for our second remake, we felt confident that we could improve on these things. You can watch it here.

For our re-remake of “Run” we filmed on a phone to limit lens distortion, and we made sure the sounds lined up. Most of the shots we had to film again because it was sunny and we were all wearing different clothes, which would have been a continuity error. You can watch the second remake here:

By learning more about the process of filmmaking, we were able to improve our skills and gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of cinema.

Ok bye!
