ok My boys and girls lpand, yaaaa. Weird intro I just still haven’t recovered from a video in science that we just watched, but anyways that’s another project. This project we just recently finished was about the matter cycles. More specifically (for me at least) the carbon cycle. I was in a group with Taylor.

Above is a great crash course on the carbon cycle. Anyways our project and presentation went really well and we had many statistics on the reduction of carbon flowing into the atmosphere if we didn’t eat beef for one month a year. It’s honestly crazy how much that would do! Below is a picture of the statistics.

Anyways now for a few curricular competencies and habits of mind that I worked on in this project. The first curricular competency I have worked on was formulating multiple hypotheses and predict multiple outcomes. I used this to help come up with some possible solutions to our inquiry question. Another curricular competency in the evaluate stage was evaluate their methods and experimental conditions, including identifying sources of error or uncertainty, confounding variables, and possible alternative explanations and conclusions. I had to evaluate other methods different scientists have used to try and solve the carbon cycle problem in the past and see what works and what doesn’t. The biggest habit of mind that I have improved has been responding with wonderment and awe. I found this project rather interesting and I’m hoping this post just touched on some of the things   I’ve learnt.

Until next time… Aedan Loughran
