Stay Gold, World

BY: BROOKLYN

Hello world! Thanks for checking out my blog. These past few weeks have been pretty crazy. Almost just as crazy as going into high school  as a grade 8! For this project we did everything from reading the Outsiders book to writing AND singing a song! Sounds pretty nerve wracking right? Well let me take you through how I did this whole project. lets get started!

The Outsiders Book

At the very beginning of this project our assignment was to read the Outsiders book. Every week we completed a role sheet based on the section of the book we completed. Sometimes I had some trouble understanding what to do but after asking some questions everything became radically clear. Outsiders was a great book to read becuase it taught me a lot about others worldview, as well as my own. I believe this is why we read this book in the first place.

This book consisted of 224 pages and was definitely not a bad read! It had a good format and writing style that made me want to keep on reading.

Things we Did Along the Way!

My Worldview MindNode

I’v noticed that a lot of our assignments within this project have connected back to my worldview. My MindNode is just one example.

Here I will show you what the success criteria was for this project, then what my MindNode looked like once I’d finished it.

What I did here is make something very similar to a mind map. I had many different sections, for example geography and the Internet, but everything connected back to MY worldview. I learned about my opinions  for subjects I had never even thought about! I’m going to be saying this a lot, but I did this project to learn more about worldview, specifically my worldview.

(Apart of Things we Did Along the Way)

Western Worldview Group Meme

At lot of the assignments in this project, for example this meme, I feel weren’t the biggest portion of the project but mainly just there to show my learning and understanding as we progressed in “It’s the End of the World as we Know it.” For this assignment I needed to make a meme about western worldview.

Song+Video
Creating Its the End of the World Song Lyrics

You may have listened to the song “It’s the of the World as we Know it” by R.E.M. If you listen to my groups version of this you might notice some similarities! Incase you’re interested in checking out my groups video, click here.

Our task for making the song at first was an individual project. I needed to Change the lyrics of the original song, keeping the same beat and flow. Keep in mind I had never done this before, so this was a totally new experience that I needed to learn how to do along the way! I couldn’t just make it any old lyrics though! It need to be about MY worldview. Once I was satisfied with what I had come up with, my group members and I    combined all our lyrics so the final song could be about ALL our worldviews!

Making the Video

Now, making the video for this song wasn’t that hard but it did take a while. My group members and I had to do some trouble shooting when things wouldn’t work out how they needed to, in the end though everything came together. To match the lyrics of the song, we all needed to find photos of us that connected to it.

What I Learned

I learned so much while creating the song and video. First off, I learned how to work Garage Band, which I have never used before. We used Garage Band to sing and create our music video. More importantly though, I learned how to write, sing, create and post a song!

Conclusion

In conclusion,I learned many new skills throughout this PLP project and many of them I can continue to use later on in my PLP journey. Even though there were some hard parts, I ended up using problem solving skills to work through them, coming up with results I’m very proud of. At the very beginning of this project I had absolutely no idea what my worldview was, and to be honest, I didn’t really know what that meant! Now that we have reached the ending of this project I can confidently share my worldview with others as well as understand what worldview means.
