Me Geeking Out on PC’s

How I got into PC technology:

It all started when I went over to my friend’s house to hang out. When we went to play I asked what we were going to play on and he said a PC. I started to ask about it and what it was capable of doing and I kept asking him questions. After that I watched YouTube videos and did research on PC’s so I decided to buy my own PC. It was a pre-built PC from a very good company and I have had no issues whatsoever.

Motherboard

The motherboard is the backbone that ties the computer’s components together at one spot and allows them to talk to each other. Without it, none of the computer parts, such as the CPU, GPU, or hard drive, could interact.

CPU [Processor]

The component of a computer system that controls the interpretation and execution of instructions. The CPU of a PC consists of a single microprocessor, while the CPU of a more powerful mainframe consists of multiple processing devices, and in some cases, hundreds of them.

GPU [Graphics Card] (a PC is not required to have a GPU to operate)

What does GPU stand for? Graphics Processing Unit, a specialized processor originally designed to accelerate graphics rendering. GPUs can process many pieces of data simultaneously, making them useful for machine learning, video editing, and gaming applications.

RAM [Memory] (Random Access Memory)

RAM Is a temporary memory bank where your computer stores data it needs to retrieve quickly. RAM keeps data easily accessible so your processor can quickly find it without having to go into long-term storage to complete immediate processing tasks.

Storage Device (SSD, NVME SSD, HDD)

Storage is a mechanism that enables a computer to retain data, either temporarily or permanently. Storage devices such as flash drives and hard disks are a fundamental component of most digital devices since they allow users to preserve all kinds of information such as videos, documents, pictures and raw data.

Cooling for (CPU, Chassis/case)

Computer cooling systems are passive or active systems that are designed to regulate and dissipate the heat generated by a computer so as to maintain optimal performance and protect the computer from damage that will occur from overheating.

PSU [Power Supply Unit]

A power supply unit (PSU) converts mains AC to low-voltage regulated DC power for the internal components of a computer. Modern personal computers universally use switched-mode power supplies.

Chassis

A chassis (pronounced CHasē) is another word for a computer case, aka tower. The chassis holds most of a PC’s components. This doesn’t include peripherals like the keyboard, mouse or monitor.

This information can also be found on Google and can be more detailed on what specifically these parts do.

Sharing my knowledge on buying PC’s:

When I was buying a PC I had no previous knowledge on how to build one. So I bought a pre-built PC and I was skeptical because most prebuilt’s are good but they are not balanced. Sometime there would be very little storage but lots of graphic power. For buying a PC there are 2 main thing you want to keep in mind like what you’re going to use it for and your budget.

Firstly, if your going for a work PC then you would probably not need a GPU unless you are rendering, 3D art, processing, etc. If you want a gaming PC, then you would need a gaming GPU. There are many other uses for a PC but I’m only going to talk about those two.

Secondly, the other consideration is your budget when buying a PC. I just want to say I’m not including the specific parts nor where to buy them. There are plenty of videos on how to do build your own PC.

Here is a sample budget:

Budget $1,500

For this price I would go for a

GPU

model 2060 around $250-320

CPU I5 11400k around $250

RAM 16 GB DDR4 $70-100

Storage SSD 1TB NVMe M.2 $100-170

PSU 550w $60-120 this also depends on if you get a Gold or bronze efficiency.

Cooling (Air cool) For, a cpu cooler, front fans, back fan. $20-200 this one really depends on your case/chassis.

Motherboard 1200 (Intel 11th/10th Gen) Micro ATX Motherboard this is a tip of motherboard you should look for and it doesn’t really matter what brand it is just make sure it a trustable brand. As well as making sure it say 1200 (Intel 11th/10th Gen) so it compatible.

Chassis this can go anywhere and it depends on what you want for looks and functions.

BTW the price I pick are what you should look for because prices have skyrocketed on the time of writing, which means all the prices during 2022 so for have been overpriced.

If you enjoy this, you can ask for a build by making a comment saying your budget, what you are using it for, and your style. If you send me a comment with this information, I will make suggestions on what components to buy or pick.

The end thx for reading.
