TPOL 2024 (The Next Step)

Today I stand before you as a final year student in grade 10, this year has been full of adventure, new friends and especially progress. I am not just saying this to impress you, but to truly reflect on my growth and achievements throughout this year.

Before I go in to deep I would like to “Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.”

Self Evaluation: Agency

In PLP (Performance Learning Program), agency refers to the ability of students to make choices and take ownership of their learning. This includes setting goals, making decisions, and taking action to achieve those goals. Students with agency are proactive in their education and are able to advocate for themselves in order to succeed.

I have an evaluation of my agency over this year that I would like to share to you. Also, what made me choose them and why I believe they are relevant to my success’s and flaws as a learner.

I know that I am consistent in taking responsibility for my own learning and actions, setting goals, self assessing, accepting feedback and making revisions.

I also, have good agency because I am confident in my decision-making abilities and trust myself to make choices that align with my values and goals. By exercising agency, I am able to assert my independence and navigate challenges with resilience and determination. This will for sure help me move forward in my professional life.

Self Evaluation: Communicating And Collaborating

In the Performance Learning Program (PLP), communication and collaboration looks like constant interaction and teamwork with peers and teachers. We are encouraged to actively engage in discussions, debates, and brainstorming. We are also given opportunities to work in groups on projects and assignments, which helps collaboration skills and mutual understanding.

I am good at collaborating and communicating because I know the importance of working together towards a goal. I know that effective communication is key to building strong relationships and having success as a team. I believe that I am a leader in this category since I am open to communication, active listening, and encourage lots of perspectives. I believe in the power of collaboration and am always ready to support and uplift my team members to drive innovation and accomplish our objectives.

My Strongest Projects This Year:

Humanities = Romeo? Romeo!

My favorite project was adapting Romeo and Juliet into a movie because I have always heard and watched my brother doing the famous project of Romeo and Juliet and the story/characters. The process of shooting and making character’s, scouting locations, creating costumes was incredibly fun. Bringing the iconic love story to life on screen was both challenging and rewarding. I loved seeing the final product come together and sharing it with my peers and family.

Final Product

Maker = Peas In A Podcast

I mean just right away I was exploding with ideas and visions of what I was going to do it honestly became overwhelming for others I was flourishing in this project and really brought out a strong final product that I still brag about to my family and peers. This Project we had to come up with an idea to make three podcast episodes with. I chose the obvious Football which is my passion but, not only that I focused on the mindset of it and what it takes to be a footballer.

PGP = Back To The Future

I was absent for the initial part of this project, but it didn’t take me long to understand the idea and plan. I was amazed by the positive individual thinking required and how challenging it was to find answers in those departments. The fact that we had to pitch ourselves was nerve-wracking and interesting. It gave me a deep impression of who I am as a person, even though it didn’t turn out the way I had hoped with not receiving full checkmarks. However, it was all part of the process and it helped me to reflect and incorporate it into my exhibition pitch about physiotherapy, which I enjoyed doing with others. I had some great conversations and interactions that I hope to continue here in this TPOL

What I Need To Work On To Be Successful In My New Chapter:

While being more engaged in football endeavors may be exciting and fulfilling, it is important to consider the potential flaws of being absent from school. Missing school can lead to falling behind academically, missing important information and assignments, and ultimately affecting my overall academic performance. It is crucial to find a balance between pursuing my passion for football and maintaining a solid commitment to my education. Prioritizing education and finding ways to stay engaged in both school and football can help me succeed in both areas of my life.

In conclusion I need to learn how to balance my life outside of school with school better. I know opportunities are coming arise since I am getting older and it is my time to shine but, I must learn how to keep balance to not just help me for now but for my future. I do cherish the mature environment in PLP because my teachers are very kind and supportive towards these opportunities and experiences. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to help me with my next steps as a learner.

Thanks, I look forward to seeing you in grade 11!
