Radical Innovations or How It’s Going (aka The Winter Exhibition ❄️)

Welcome back to another post! We had lots of projects and a big lead up to the winter exhibition. Stress, late nights, hard work and some tears (mine had nothing to do with the exhibition 😂). Continue reading to find out the details 😉.

The Renaissance Artwork

Like before, we had to chose a photo from a time and photoshop your face into it. To photoshop our faces into the photo we used an app called SuperimposeX. This was kinda the conclusion of another art chart we did. I think I could’ve put in more effort and made it better.

Renaissance Paragraph

A bit after the art chart (above) we had to write a paragraph. The thing is that we didn’t have a whole lot of time to do it. I dont think I would change anything. If I had to change something I’d probably put more thought into it. More thought can’t hurt👍.

Witches

One day when we got into class, we had to share a sentence about witches, witchcraft and witch hunts in the Middle Ages. My story is, I think I came to class on time that day. So I sat down, for Ms Willemse’s question of the day it was to read our witch hunt sentence. I didn’t know that we had to do it ahead of time! The day before in class we were reading a whole bunch of stuff about witch hunts and all that. I was probably zoned out and didn’t process it. So I scribbled some words down and hoped it was good enough. Here it is.

The 2023 Winter Exhibition ❄️

This year, im in grade 8 so it was our first winter exhibition. If you’re wondering what an exhibition is, it’s where all the students in PLP present what they have been working on to their family, friends and the public!! The PLP 8 got split up into 5 groups. We had to present 3 tableaus. In a tableau there are 3 pictures. The pictures could be of anything, it’s normally based on the same thing. Recently we’ve been doing assignments and reading about the medieval times, renaissance and contemporary (today). So we had to make a tableau on that. Except instead of photos and drawings, it was us!!! The teachers were talk in about how everyone is running around and it’s stressful. From my experience, it wasn’t stressful and not many people were running around (just the teachers). I wasn’t worried about it in the first place but if you have one coming up, it seriously isn’t worth all the stress. If you help and make sure YOU are happy and calm, it will go well.

                    .                      ⬆️King Joseph⬆️

Medieval Tableau👑⚔️

The first part of our tableau was medieval times. Our very first part of this is the planning. We planned with a drawing. We drew out who’s going to play each part. After the drawing was finished we could start getting our costumes together, props and a script if your the one talking and explaining in a scene. Another thing is that we had to include 7? or 5? aspects of worldview 😒; knowledge, economy, beliefs, values, time and geography. For knowledge we made the king/ King Joseph (aka me) a map because we rely on maps whenever we’re travelling. Back then they didn’t have google maps, I think google maps is better because if your coming back from somewhere and don’t want to get caught in traffic, just pull up google maps and you can see. For economy the I/ King Joseph was wearing “expensive” fabrics. King Joseph was holding a cross to represent beliefs. Obviously King Joseph represented values because the country relied in the king to make the decisions. For time we made a sundial. Lastly, geography we had a horse (Julia).

Renaissance Tableau✝️

Like the last, we still had to include 7 or 5 aspects of worldview. For geography we had the horse, we reused it from the medieval scene. For time we switched out the sundial for a clock. It was a new and exciting invention. King Joseph came back in because he is the bomb, but mostly to to show values (again) and what also showed values was the food wagon because you had to work for food and people valued it very much. The wagon was pulled by the horse. For belifes King Jospeh was still holding his cross BUT we also introduced the bible that was held by a Christian. The wagon also showed economy because wealthier people were able to believe in more things. And finally we showed a painter because painters had to have a very creative and know a lot about the land and knowledge in general.

Contemporary Tableau📱🗳️

As you probably know, contemporary is what we’re living in today. Again we had to use the 7 or 5 worldview things. Within out scene there is electronic voting booth. Inside the booth we have a computer. The computer is used to make your vote. As you probably already know, in Canada we use a ballot box to vote for our leader. Our design for the voting booth is meant to be one that can evolve in the future. It is displayed to show society because these days we have the opportunity to choose our leaders. In the Medieval and Renaissance times they didn’t have the opportunity to do so. The voting booth also shows values becasue back then women weren’t allowed to vote, it is a privilege today that everyone over the age of 18 has the right to vote. Back in the medieval and renaissance times, the government ran on monarchy. A monarch is a form of government that has a single person known as a monarch at its head. Nowadays we have a from of government called democracy, which allows the nation to vote for who they believe is the best leader.

The Snack

For the exhibition, we had to have a snack for the audience after they finish watching all our tableau’s. We were very lucky to have Julias mom make around 100 cookies!! They were SO good and looked like snowballs so I told the audience to take a snowball on the way out!

Conclusion

We hadn’t done very many big projects like this, so I will say that this was a very successful one. We had SO MANY assignments, readings, props, etc. that led up to an amazing exhibition.

Thanks for reading to the end of this post, its a long one😂😭💀.
