MILITIA, MACHINES ,MILITARISM, MAURICE, AND MUD – Humanities 9

This year was a fun year in terms of Social Studies. I was able to talk about topics I enjoy and also partake in my hobbies during class time (twice).

Points of Pride:

I am quite proud of my ability to use my prior knowledge to help myself to complete projects to the best of my ability, but I think sometimes, it’s more of a hindrance than a help, such as World War One, where I would have enjoyed it more if I knew little of the topic. 

Both exhibitions went well this year, and despite the videos we made for the Winter exhibition being literally unwatchable due to the fact that the noise level in the room is too much and that people can’t spend five minutes at every single project (they’d die of old age), we were able to make collaboration with the grade 8s a success. The spring exhibition also went well, and by the last 45 minutes I was in my groove, I was bringing up real world connections (Very P.L.P, I know) and explaining what it was about in an understandable way.

The “Nationalism” project was enjoyable as I got to explain and simplify complicated rules for wargames, but a downside was that this was a project where we were forced to have fun. Terrible. I was FORCED to play hangman to PRETEND to have fun. Truly terrifying, can you believe it. But we killed Sean bean so it was worth it.

Leviathan was an interesting project, where I created MAURICE, and he is in my hall of fame of cursed creations with his singular foot, love of fishing, seal face, and exploits in croatia 🇭🇷.


Anyways, Maurice is a pretty radical fella. I think he was my greatest creation of 2022/2023, that is unless something else comes up in the last 4 days 🙂

 

 

 

 

 

Science 9

Unfortunately, I no longer have science as a class, so I can’t present anything new 🙁

But anyways, here goes:

Science. The periodic table project was a breeze. The Ecosystem project was fun, even though at the end for the final project, I had to work with a slacker , and in our video we made for the project, I was a perfect POLISH DOKTOR in a video about the Urchin Infestation in the seas near California.

I also enjoyed the project where me made the board game “Operation” out of boxes and learned all about circuits and energy

Does it work? I’ll be shocked if it doesn’t – Blog Post #36 – Exciting Electricity

I think I was able to show my ability to overcome problems during the “Operation” project, and that didn’t include just tech issues, as my eyes went on the fritz for that class alone.

Maker 9

Since maker is over, I can’t say I have become better at anything, but at least I can make like a mirror and reflect.

Unfortunately, the Ukrainian navy still hasn’t responded, but it was a long shot anyways. My photography and videography have kept up, and I think photography has been my main source of self esteem in life. It’s the only thing I can say I’m “Good” at in life.
then again, the Ukrainian navy is kinda gone…

so I don’t really expect a reply.
