Welcome back to my blog! In the second Humanities project of my grade 10 year, we learned all about World War II.
Historical Significance
The main focus of the project was using evidence to support arguments, but we also learned about historical significance. I really expanded my idea of how events influence our everyday lives, and I’ve started to make more and more connections between historical events and things in the present. Being able to see these connections can also show how things in the present might effect the future as well.
In this project I tried to ask a lot more questions. My goal this year is to try and extend some of my work and make deeper connections, so asking questions is something that will help with that. After asking more questions, I noticed that I understood my work better, and ended up with better product.
The Essay
The Final Product of this project was to write an essay on the historical significance of World War II. I think that my work was accomplishing the goal of the assignment, but it wasn’t something that I’m entirely proud of. I feel that I didn’t do the best job of connecting it to Canada’s role in WWII. This was the first essay I’ve ever written, and I feel that I did a decent job on choosing the right words and making revisions, but it still feels like the overall quality could have been better. Here is a link to my essay if you’d like to give it a read.
In Conclusion
Overall I feel like this project went really well. I asked a lot of questions, which will hopefully prepare me for the next project.
