Small But Mighty

This was a gigantic project, so i have a lot to share. Let’s get into it! Our knowledge of cell biology contributes to public health because we can learn good habits about how to take care of our body.

Field Journal!

Our first project we worked on was our field journal. In this project we learned about observational skills to make our field journal. But what was our field journal? Our field journal was broken into  5 topics to make a science experiment:

  1. Asking a question: We had to ask a question about a topic that has something to do with germs. My question was “Which kills more bacteria; Body Care hand sanitizer or Sunlight dish soap?
  2. Hypothesis/Prediction: In any science experiment you need to have a prediction or hypothesis. Here is my hypothesis: I hypothesize  that the  Sunlight dish soap will be more effective on the bacteria.
  3. Test/Checking: you can’t do a science experiment with out the tools to test your prediction so we made a list to answer our question:
  4. Observations: to get data from the test we had to make observations, mostly physical observations were made. These results were made over 10 Days!
  5. Last we got see our findings and to see if our prediction was right or wrong. Here are my findings: Overall in my experiment, dish soap is more effective in preventing the growth of bacteria. Hand sanitizer is still a good way to fight bacteria but according to my experiments, I would stick to washing your hands. My prediction was right, Dish soap wins! That’s my field journal and project and I learned so much from it. I learned that observations have to be precise and true in everyone’s eyes!

Immune system characters!

My next part was immune system characters! In this part of the project I learned  how to communicate my knowledge in a way where everyone understands! In this project we had to make characters for B Cells, white blood cells, pathogens, antibodies, macrophages, and T cells! These characters could be our own or related to movies or shows. I did the minions because i felt that there was a spot for each cell or bacteria. I am very proud of my drawings and explanation! Check out my explanations for each character down below (my favourite was ‘the Kevin’s’):

This was my favourite part of the project!

Vaccine Media!

This is our last part of the project. You know how we see content on the internet and just believe? Well our goal was to make people aware of what information is real and false. We made campaigns to make people aware of what is  false information about vaccines. My partner, Brooklyn (link her blog post) and I,  made a campaign about how getting the covid vaccine has nothing to do with pregnancy problems. Check out our media campaign, we made three but this is my favourite campaign!

This part of the project showed me the power of words and the power of persuasion.

Conclusion

This project was the longest and one of the most fun projects I have done!!!! Make sure to check out my other posts!!!
