🌊Colonization in a Tempest🌊

Hello peoples! Today I’m going to talk about our project called Colonizing in a Tempest. Colonizing in a tempest is a compilation of historical significance events of New France and the First Europeans colonization of what became Canada and Shakespeare’s play “The Tempest”. We did a lot of little thing that we used to make our way up to the point to create a tableau. If you don’t know what a tableau is here is a pretty good explanation. A tableau is a group of actors or anyone representing a scene from a story or from history.

When we first started this project I thought it was just going be like any other boring project. But we were actually having fun. We got to do a couple small tableaus. Just so that we get an idea of what we’re doing. The first thing we did was we watched a Shakespeare play called The Tempest. Then we had to do a couple active readings just so our teacher knows that we understand what’s going on. After we are finished watching the plane we are put into groups of two or three. Now we are in a group it was time to start creating our play. So what we had to do was create it a rough draft of the script. Once you have that approved by the teacher you’re free to move on to creating the backdrop.Monkey bar scene was act one Scene one. The main feeling of that scene was intense, scary, dark and stormy. What was actually happening in the scene was a group of European explorers we’re trap in a terrible storm over sea.Your only hope was to find any sort of shelter to stay the night. So my crew idea for the backdrop was going to be a big boat right in the middle and the background was grey stormy clouds, lightning, rain and dark, everything that you would see in a storm. Once everyone’s group was approved. We are finally able to be put into new groups so we can memorize the script. The costume was little bit more difficult because we only had one day left before the performance and we had no idea what do each of the characters were going to wear. Finally we have figured it all out everyone was ready to perform!

Before it was really good everyone did great and it was really fun! This project was definitely a thumbs up for me I really enjoyedThis project so much and I’m really glad we got to do it!

📝tPOLS📝

Hello and welcome to my tPOLS! Today I am going to talk about projects I have done this year, my goal for next year and how I am going to get there. First let’s talk about some of my favourite projects I have done.

My favourite in humanities is Blue Sky. I liked this project the best because there was no limit in what to make. All it had to include was how it was going to help a problem. My idea was a waist band that would be attached to a stroller handle so when you are jogging your hands are free but the stroller is secured in front of you. If you would like to know more below I will show pictures of my brainstorming.

Now it’s maker. Maker was really really really fun this year I really enjoyed it. The biggest project we did was definitely DI I liked DI because it was an awesome way to express your selfs, learn new things and meet new people. I would Explain DI as one big group working together to make an amazing presentation. It was very stressful but brought the class closer and was a learning experience. It also improved presentation skills in front of an audience. If you would like to know more about DI I will link my DI blog post below.

Ok let’s talk science. We didn’t do many project but the one I liked the best was we had to write a book about tectonic plates but in a was kids could understand. Here it is if you would like to read it.

Tectonic plates

Sadly in math we didn’t do any big projects projects. But we did do TONS of work sheets. And I really enjoyed those to be honest.

PGP time! Okay now let’s talk about my experience with PGP. Now I’m just going to say hi his now PGP is not my favourite thing, but that’s ok because even if I didn’t like it, PGP has helped me become a better student and a better learner.

My goals for next year include staying on top of work, putting in all my effort and have positive look on what your doing!

Now my plan for next year is to have my main goal in mind at all times! (Always have a positive attitude!). If I can do that all year round I know that I will enjoy what I’m doing way more!

K bye ✌️

🕰Time Machine🕰

In my class we have an extra class called PGP. PGP is all about goal setting and helping us stay on track with homework it also about helping us become a better person. PGP has helped me so much this year with handing in work on time, putting in my best effort and letting me know doesn’t matter when the do date is what matters is that you finish it know you did your best instead of saying “well I did it”.

I’m going to talk about our time machine.A time machine is a self reflection about all the stuff we learnt about in PGP. In my case I did a photo collage/comic. Down below is a representation of how PGP has helping improve as a student and as a person.

Now it’s time to explain.

In the first panel is show me frustrated and confused. I was trying to represent that before PGP it was hard to stay on top of all my homework and other stuff going on in my life.

Next panel I’m am showing that at first PGP was boring and I didn’t think it was going to help me at all.

Panel number 3 shows after some time it got interesting. I was more involved and was kinda enjoying what we were doing.

Number 4 represents the book we read called The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens. Reading this book really helped me gain perspective of the world (I know that sound very cheesy but it’s true).

In 5 shows that that’s when we started using the app Things and Calendar. Both of these apps have really helped me keep on top of things.

Number 6 represents me thinking about graduating and thinking about how much easier it will be.

7 panel is all about me feeling good about finishing all my wrk on time and checking it off in Things.

Number 8 shows when that PGP has helped me soooo much throw out the year.

And last but not least panel number 9 represents how excited I am to do it all over again. (Kinda)

🧠Imagination destination🧠

So we did a HUGE! project called Destination Imagination (DI). It was so much fun but also very very stressful. So we were put into groups of five and was given a choice of five different categories (Fine Arts, Engineering, Scientific, Improv, Technical). My category was Improv and in my group was Malaika, Felix, Thomas and Grace. After a little bit of learning about Improv, getting to know your group and figuring out how to do perform. My group felt like we were not going to do very well at regionals, but once we got better at the practices we felt more confident. When we got to regionals we were very nervous. But after we had done our presentation we felt like we had done way better then we thought we would have done. If you want to see our presentation here you go:

After regionals were done we only had spring break (which is two weeks) and then one week after that before PROVINCIALS! Everyone was nervous and excited. We did get first at regionals but provincials is WAY more people, like tons. But we were going to try anyway. When we got there it was full of people. The place was packed. But after we found our room it was easy to clam down. But then it was our turn to present my whole group was very nervous. But we didn’t have a choice if we didn’t want to do it so we did it. And it wasn’t as bad as I had thought. It was actually pretty fun. So after we had finished our performance we still had all day so we watch some of the other groups. At the end of the day it was time for the awards. So we waited and waited until our group’s category was called and then we heard the first two groups get called for first and second but then we heard our groups name (1-800-IMPROV-4-KIDS) and we jumped up screaming and cheering. I was so excited. That experience was something you could very turn down. And believe me because it was so much fun just being there!

🌎It’s the end of the world project review🌎

So this term we did a project called it’s the end of the world as we know it. (based on the song) What we did was recreate the lyrics to tell the story of how our transition from elementary school to high school changed our worldview, but also trying to keep the beat the same.

And then after we had a good copy of the song, we had to sing it with the music track. While recording we learnt how to use garage band. And that how we created our songs. Before this project I had no idea how to use garage band, but now it fun to just fool around and create random music. Anyway back to the project, after we were all done recording our songs, we were put in groups and had to combine all of our songs into the one awesome song. After that we each had to pick about 10 pictures from grade 7 and grade 8 and put it together to make a video to go with our song. And after you were done that we had to sing the song all together in garage band. And to be honest ours didn’t sound super bad!

some mild stones we did was the triple venn diagram

A couple other ones were the song recording and the video collage. (it is at the bottom if you wanted to see it) Over all I felt stressed out, excited and happy. I really enjoyed this project

And I learnt a lot of things like how to use garage band or that I’m not very good at singing, but I really thought this project was super fun and entertaining!

If you want to hear our group song here it is!

📚mPOL’s📚

Hey guys, So today I’m going to tell you about mPOL’s. Ok I know what your thinking mPOL’s are kinda like a student led conference. And I’m hoping you know what a student led conference is but if don’t it means exactly how it sounds, a student leading a conference about how they are doing to far in school (most of the time it’s about school). Ok now here’s the difference between student lead conferences and mPOL’s, a student lead conferences is kinda like a walk around gallery when you just talk about your work. And mPOL’s are similar but they are much more of a presentation. Okay so for my mPOL i made a paragraph about each subject talking about what we did and how we did it.

First let’s talk about humanities and what we did. We did a lot of this this year so far, lots of this like worldview of religion or Oregon ads. But I think I’m going to talk about the Oregon ads. I loved this project because for one thing we got to go to Oregon with was super fun. Go check out my Oregon blog post! Oregon blog post But anyways in Oregon we were separated into group, in my group was Kaden, Holly, Ryan and Emily. Here are link to their blogs if you wanna see their’s!Holly’s blog Emily’s blog Kaden’s blog  Ryan’s blog Ok back to work. After we had a group we were assigned a business that originated in Oregon. Are business was Northwest trek wildlife park. Like I said I really like this project and if you wanna here more about the Oregon ads here’s the link to my post. Oregon ads blog post

Next maker , so far in maker we did lots of projects such as the student blogging challenge which is a bunch of little project that we had to do on our blog. Here’s a link to my favourite challenge. Blogging challenge week 5. Another big project we did was the winter expedition. Winter expedition is this big project everyone in PLP did. Our focus was worldview and religion. If you wanna hear more go check out my post abouWinter Expedition blog post.

Now science, science wasn’t to bad this year our teacher was Mr. Tomas(same teacher in math) Mr. Tomas is a really awesome teacher he is super chill and a good teacher, but anyways back to the work. In science we would usually just do work sheets but if we were learning a new subject we would get to watch a couple videos. I think my favourite project in science would have to be the children’s book about tectonic plates because it was really fun and i really enjoyed making it. Here it is if you wanna see it. 814634EB-8BBD-4C5F-98BB-5A478E4FB4C7-10q33pk

Ok this year in math I for once liked math class because it was nice and calm and not super crazy like my other classes, and my teacher Mr. Tomas he was super chill he would even lets us eat and lessen to music in class. But also it was fun, normally i don’t like math but this year was really fun because if we weren’t doing any work sheets we would get to watch videos. The work we done is stuff like fractions, integers and order of operations and we just started working on surface area and volume.

This year we started a new class in PLP called PGP. PGP is to help you become a student and person. PGP has helped me so much in PLP, such as keeping track of time by time blocking or goal setting. In the beginning of the year PLP was pretty stressful but after PGP it got a lot easier. Okay back to the work this year in PGP it was a labour goal setting. Everyone in my class had to make up one or two goal for next year. My goal was to take my time when doing work and to stay organized. I think that PGP helped me a lot by keeping organized. And to be honest I thought that PGP was going to be jus more homework but instead in really helped me out

🗺My Worldview🗺

My class is a project called My Worldview. It was about how we see our lives and what’s going on in life. Just turn off we had to make a MindNode. Our MindNode is a brainstorm about our life. We had to put a point of view for different subjects. And then make it into a script. After we are done making a script we use an app called explain everything and we made a little video all about our worldview.I thought this project was pretty fun I got to use some new apps I’ve never used before and it was really fun making explain everything video to me.

❄️Winter Exhibition 2018❄️

This term my class did a big project called the winter Exhibition. It’s all about what we’ve learn in the topic we where given, in my case we did the worldview of religion. How it works is everyone in my class was separated into groups of 5. Each group was given a specific religion. My group was assigned Judaism for our religion. But their was lots of other religions such as Buddhism, Sikhism, Hinduism, Islam, etc. After we were assigned our religion we had to make a poster. We had to make 4 drafts.

Here is our first draft/idea. As you can see if you knew nothing about Judaism you would think this is a good poster. But the five main points were definitely not the main more important parts in Judaism, and the gas mask is pretty offensive because what happen was they were invaded and had coked to death because the invaders released a deadly gas that killed many, many, many Jews. And the invaders were wearing the gas mask so that’s how they survived, but since the Jews did not have any gas masks they were killed. So if they had the gas masked they would of survived. So adding that picture of a gas mask means that they were not smart enough to think to use the gas mask. So when my teacher saw it all she said was “You know you can’t use that poster, right”. So that’s why we thought of this idea.

This was our second draft/idea. We had completely redo this draft because our first draft was offensive. So for this draft we thought we would make it clear that we had 6 main important parts. Each group member had to do one main event(and one together)and a picture that suited the part. And in my opinion I think we did pretty good compared to our first Poster. After every group had finished a poster draft our teachers numbered each poster from best to worse. Our first one we were last, but in our second one we were in third! I’m not going to show you all of our posters but here was our end result!

This is our last poster draft! The changes were not that big but we did change the text on all of them a little bit, and fixed up all the pictures. And after every group had finished they last draft our teachers number us, and guess what place we came in. FIRST! and we were the first group to have a thumps up to print it! After everyone had finished all their final poster, that’s when we were aloud to start planning the rest of the project.

So what we had to do was think of a food to make and a game to play. For my group we did cheese dreidels for our food and for our game we chose to do the game dreidel! The plan was everyone had to make 40 cheese dreidels, and one person would make 4 clay dreidels. The end result of our station was pretty awesome! We had lots of people coming and looking, eating, playing and asking questions about Judaism. Our project was a hit and in conclusion I think my group awesome and that I really liked the idea of the Winter Exhibition!
