Project Time Yaay… Heh, Heh, yah…

Time for a Blue Sky project, I call it the brewski project. For this project we had to come up with and idea that hasn’t been created yet and it solves a problem that people run into in there daily lives. My first idea was a really comfortable lawn chair because I find that most lawn chairs are really uncomfortable, it was going to have cushions, cup holders, speakers, all sorts of gadgets that would be awesome and most importantly it would be good for your back. I got shut down immediately. I had to figure out a way to come up with idea and have it ready for the exhibition. I asked my parents about a problem in their lives, and after a while my mom said that plastic bags take up a lot of space in houses and most of its air so maybe I should find a way to compress it. I didn’t think it was a great idea at first but it grew on me and I started to think it was a great idea. I asked my teachers and they basically approved me right away.

I started working on my designs, at first  I thought that a box attached to a vacuum would be best, because it would suck all the air out of it but I would also have the top compressing down to squeeze all of the air out of it. After a while I thought that the vacuum would get clogged and it wouldn’t work. My mentor (we had to get somebody to help us out that was outside of our family and school) told me that I should put the bags in a bag that sucked the air out by a vacuum, I still thought that that would clog and wouldn’t work. In the end I decided that just a box that had the top compress would work the best.image image

It worked and it was simple and easy and it was ready for the exhibition.  I felt quite proud about what I did because most of the parents said that they would like to have it in their own house because they have that same problem. One of my friends told me I should have auctioned it off to the highest bidder.

After I finished I thought of other ways I could have done it. For example maybe I could just got a PVC pipe and a metal rod and you just push the bags through the PVC pipe.

In the end it all worked out fine and my mom now has a her plastic bag problem fixed.
