First blogpost of the year!!
This one’s about our Handle with care project. Our driving question for this project was, “in what ways have human being impacted the delicate cycles whiten our local environment and how can we lessen the impact.”
In this project we created a food web sketch, a news report and social media posts. They all focused on different aspects of the project but what they were all telling us was that we need to protect our environment!
The food web sketch was to show us how everything rely’s on each other and removing one seemingly small detail can lead to repercussions affecting the entire ecosystem! Our world is made of up small ecosystems coinciding to connect into one large environment and we need to protect all of them in order for us to live and thrive!
The new report was about the way humans handle wildlife. Ours focused on the sea urchins in California. Global warming was causing sea stars to die and because they were the main predator of purple sea urchins there were too many urchins eating the kelp forest! What the government did was to encourage people to harvest sea urchins and give them to local sushi restaurants! (This video is up on our insta!)
For the social media posts we had to create five posts about the things we learnt about in this unit. They were about bioaccumulation, nutrient cycles, handling wildlife, the earths spheres and food webs. If you’d like to check them out search up naturelovah_1111 on instagram and don’t forget to leave a like follow and comment!!
Unfortunately humans have impacted our environment a lot negatively. Pollution, messing up of food cycles, deforestation, dealing with the other creatures that live here and climate change have all had a devastating lasting effect on our planet. But not all is lost! There are many things we can do to help save our planet. We can volunteer in our communities, maybe switch to an electric vehicle or walk or bike, we can reduce reuse and recycle and most importantly be vocal and share our ideas!!!
