About me!
Hey My Name is Evelyn and this page is all about me!
I am a PLP student set to graduate in 2027, and I’m currently in grade ten. You may have seen all my more educational posts but this page is just to get to know me!
One of the things that I love doing is travelling. My family are really big travellers as my dad is a tour guide and my mom used to be one. My Dad has been to 75 countries so he’s very knowledgeable about travel. I have currently been to 13 countries which is more then the average 15 year old. I’ll show you a photo from each country and a little bit about my experiences there!
Canada:
I live in Canada but I’ve travelled around B.C and Alberta. With our grade nine PLP trip we went to the Rocky Mountains and I took my favourite photo in Canada there.
United States of America:
Considering that we live so close to the border I’ve only been to the US one time and that was a PLP trip. We travelled along the Oregon Coast which was beautiful. I loved driving along the ocean and seeing the beautiful beaches.
Mexico:
I went to Mexico when I was ten years old. My parents don’t like “normal” vacations so of course we had to stay in the middle of nowhere. We went to a small village of palapas and so it turned out at night millions of these pretty big crabs crawled on every surface. Fun fact palapas don’t have many walls so these crabs were in our little house. Pretty traumatic for a ten year old.
The Netherlands:
Some of my family live in the Netherlands and my dad lived there for a bit while he was a barge captain. We went to Amsterdam, Delft, Appledorn and Haarlem. We also spent some time sailing on the coast.
France:
I’ve been to France a couple times but I only ever was able to explore once. Like most people the only place I’ve been in France is Paris. It was very pretty there but a bit too busy for my taste. A fun fact about me is that I speak French!
Austria:
Austria is one of my favourite countries that I’ve visited. All the people I met were so kind and all the locations we visited were beautiful. I got to go to the most incredible museum in Vienna called the museum of Natural History.
Belgium:
I haven’t properly explored Belgium unfortunately but when we were taking a train from Paris to Vienna we passed through Belgium and I got to see some really beautiful cites.
Germany:
Germany is another country that I wasn’t able to explore much but we took an overnight train through it and the mountain scape was beautiful.
I wasn’t able to get any photos unfortunately
Czech Republic:
I am a citizen of the Czech Republic and my mom is from there. All my mom’s family is still there so we go back a lot to see my grandpa and the rest of her family. I really love Czech and it feels very homely there for me.
China:
For a very short period of time I was in Hong Kong. Another place that we didn’t get to explore but from what we saw it was very cool.
Singapore:
I absolutely love Singapore. It is so high tech and nothing like I’ve seen before. It was so fun to explore around the city and its so incredible. There’s so many plants everywhere whilst also being a HUGE city.
Indonesia:
I spent almost two weeks in Indonesia and wow. It was so beautiful and also culturally interesting. We went to the island of Sulawesi and it was so amazing. Everybody was so welcoming and kind. I would 100% go back.
Malaysia:
I have mixed feeling about Malaysia. Maybe we just didn’t go to the right places but most of it wasn’t particularly remarkable. We took a four hour bus ride from Singapore to Melaka and it was quite underwhelming. Coming from the beautiful jungles of Indonesia and the high-techness of Singapore the never ending oil palm plantations of Malaysia were a bit underwhelming. When we first stepped out of the bus un Melaka it almost looked like we had stepped out in the outskirts of Surrey, but four times as hot and humid. My parents were talking about how this was a preserved city but so far the only preserved thing I had seen was a flattened rat I had nearly stepped on. But we went on a walk to the older parts of the city and I saw the attraction to the city was. Every Friday and Saturday there was a massive market called the Jonker street market and it was amazing. I really enjoyed that part of it.
That was probably a lot about travel so here are some other things I love doing; Skiing, Rowing, Thrifting, Listening to music, Hanging out with friends, Drawing, Going to cafés and many other things. If you know me then you know that most of the time I have an AirPod in my ear so music is a big part of my identity. I have a decent amount of vinyls and my room is covered in music posters.
I also really love the oceans and I want to peruse a career in either Marine Biology or Environmental Law. Me and my dad go snorkelling a lot and it’s one of the things I really enjoy doing.
That’s enough about me! Thanks for reading!
