HI!

This is my first real PGP post. This is a reflection post and overall, I will be talking about managing impulsivity, thinking about thinking, thinking and communicating with clarity and precision, and gathering data through all senses.

#1 Managing Impulsivity:

Personally, I don’t think I am bad at managing my impulsive thoughts and feelings. A time where this really showed was on my trip to Japan. This was near the end of the trip, and we had just come back to Tokyo. We had come back a little early because there was a typhoon warning in effect. I, was TERRIFIED. I am not a person who handles events like this well. For us, all we could do, was stock up and hunker down. While my brother and I sat in our hotel room and watched the wind and rain go by, I had a lot of impulsive feelings. I wanted to cry and just curl up because I was worried. But, I didn’t do that. I toughed it out and had a decent time with my brother.

#2 Thinking about Thinking:

Another time in Japan, we were walking in a famous Japanese district known for its anime and manga. Throughout that experience, I was thinking to myself “wow this is weird”. However, I realized that this is some peoples lives. People support their families by making and drawing these books and characters for people. I was also very interested in the culture of Japanese people. They are very calm, polite, and they are very quiet. I kept that in mind whenever I interacted wth them. I never tired to speak over them, I always bowed when they did, and I tried my absolute hardest to be quiet whenever we weren’t in a tourist destination. This isn’t something that I’ve done much of in the past, but I should.

#3 Questioning and Posing Problems:

This is an easy question. It’s easy because this is a universal task. What do you do when your teacher is explaining a problem? You think about what you can do to get the better grade. You assess the question and you figure out what you need to look up and what you need to put on the paper. Then you might run into a problem. Then you have to find a way to figure out that problem. You could do it a standard way or you can find a way that works best for you.

#4 Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision:

A great way I have shown this, has been through my revolution project. While doing that project, I had been the person to speak up and clarify something I don’t think the people did correctly. I have helped group members and I have contributed to help make a better project as well. Another way I have shown this skill, is whenever I am in a group project, I am most likely the one to text people and talk to them so I know and understand where they are in the project.

Gathering Data through All senses:

This competency is something that students need to do a lot in PLP. We are often given the opportunity to go outside and do projects. We film and create stuff in our projects outside and near our school. For that opportunity we are given, we need to know where to look. I have grown accustom to looking for interesting places to film our videos. I haven’t had the opportunity to do anything with my other senses much yet, but I have a feeling there will be a time.
