How are thematic and mathematic examples used in game design?

Heyyy….. nvm.

Well hello again or just hello??? In this post I will be telling you guys all about my scimatics project that Ihad to do in school. Now most of you are probably like what the _ is scimatics, scimatics is a perfect balance between science and math. In this project we were asked to create a physical board game where we had to include information on the plate tectonics.

BUILDING OUR KNOWLEDGE ON THE PLATE TECTONICS

To build our knowledge we worked a lot on workbooks and researched and also made a MindNode asking questions and revisited them at the end of the project answering them with our knowledge on the plate tectonics. Here is my completed MindNode:

THE CREATION OF THE GAME

We were put into groups that ranged from 2-4 I was partnered with this guy Cameron. Me and Cam merged our ideas and came up with a trivia game called Tectonic Tension. I will list the rules below,

The game looked like this… (ps. The thing in the middle is a volcano)

To answer that question we have used both mathematical and thematic knowledge to help build our game. The thematic part of our game was the quiz cards and the game concept. The probability was in your moves and the deck of cards itself. Anyways I enjoyed working with creative ways of learning math and science and I hope to see you soon!

Later! 🙂
