Once upon a time…
This year for our field study we went on a trip to Alberta for 9 days.
Everyday…
Before we went we learned a little bit about creating a story because the main medium we are using this year is video. They showed us a bunch of different templates that people use. One of the templates was the story spine which is what a lot of the Disney and Pixar story’s use. We were to make this post about Alberta using the story spine.
But one day…
The PLP 9 class went on a field study to Alberta. We went on this field study to answer the driving question for our identity unit: How does the land impact our identity? We would answer this in our identity video. We also needed footage, three examples and an interview from our trip.
Because of that…
We left on the 16 of September we left at 7:30 am. We Drove for three and a half hours to Kamloops where we had lunch at Costco. Then we drove another two hours to Craigellachie which is where the last spike was driven on the CPR.
Once we had finished there we drove two and a half hours to our final destination of the day: the Three Valley Lake Chateau which is where we would stayed that night. Behind the chateau there was an old historic ghost town which is where we had dinner and filmed our silent movies.
The next day we got up and had breakfast. Then we left the chateau and drove one hour to Rodgers Pass where we learned some of the history of Rodgers Pass.
After that we drove another hour to the Northern Lights Wolf Center where we learned about wolves and had lunch.
When we finished there we drove another hour to the Spiral Tunnels and from there we went to Lake Louise.
That night we stayed at the HI-Lake Louise Alpine Center and had dinner at the restaurant there.
The next day we got up had breakfast and then left for the Columbia Ice Field. We drove two and a half hours there but on the way we stoped at a Lake Peyto.
When we got there we spent almost the hole day there. After that we drove back to Lake Louise and had dinner.
Because of that…
The next day we woke up and went to lake Moraine Lake and then came back and had breakfast.
The we drove an hour to Banff and walked around the town for a bit then we had lunch in the food court. After that we went to the Cave and Basin National Historic Site.
When we were done there we went on a cruise on Lake Minnewanka.
Then we drove a hour and a half all the way to Calgary and had dinner at Big T’s Steak House. For the next four nights we stayed at a Marriott in Calgary.
The next day we had breakfast in the Marriott. On our first day in Calgary we were going to go to the Glenbow Museum but first we went and looked a one of the Beakerhead installations.
Once we had done that we went to the museum.
For lunch we went to Peters Drive-In after we went and looked at more Beakerhead installations. For dinner we went to Red Lobster and some of us had endless shrimp.
The next day we woke up had breakfast and then went on a long two hour bus ride to Drumheller. When we got there we went on a tour of the bad lands and then we looked around the Royal Tyrrell museum and had lunch there.
We then got to make replicas of fossils at the museum. After that we visited the worlds biggest dinosaur. When we got back to Calgary we had dinner at Blaze Pizza which was really good. That night we went to the mini Burning Man in Calgary which was one of the best parts of the trip.
Because of that…
The next day we had breakfast and then went to the Calgary Zoo and saw lots of awesome animals.
After that we went to a couple more Beakerhead installations, had dinner at Boogie’s Burgers and after dinner we went to Beakernight.
The next day we packed up and had a two hour bus ride to Johnston Canyon. Then from there we went to the a buffalo ranch.
From there we went to Revelstoke and had dinner at the Nomad Food Company and stayed at the Alpine Inn.
Until finally…
The next day we woke up and had breakfast at A&W’s. Then we drove to the Enchanted Forest near the Three Valley Gap and filmed another video. After that we had lunch at Triple O’s. Then we went to the Othello Tunnels. When we were done there we came back home.
And ever since then…
This trip was so much fun and a great experience. I learned so much everywhere we went.
