For the past while in humanities we have been learning about the First World War. The main project was we all chose different topics from WW1 and created a video in whatever medium we thought we would work best. but before we started on our videos we had to learn a little about WWI first. A lot of what we learned came from watching our classmates videos and doing the research for ours. We couldn’t learn everything for just our videos though so we were introduced to a YouTube series called The Great War which covered the entire First World War.
We also did a novel study we had three books to choose from I choose Generals Die in Bed by: Charles Yale Harrison.
I think this book actually helped me with my video a lot because a lot if the book is set in the trenches and it really helped put the conditions of the trenches into perspective. We also made a creative reflection for the book:
For the main project I chose the topic of trench warfare. I stared with doing lots of research I used lots of videos such as The Great War. Then created a story board and screenplay.
To create my video I used FlipaClip for the animation and then edited it in IMovie. Here is the finished product:
We presented are videos to the elementary school: Cove Cliff nearby so when we were making our videos that was something we had to keep in mind was our audience and making sure it was suitable for them. I think presenting to this younger audience because it showed us how someone differently than were use to react to what we made.
Before this project I didn’t really know much about WW1 so it was really cool to learn about such an interesting topic and how it affected everything.
