For the past while in humanities we have been learning about Canada in the 1800s. So for the work sheets and that sort of thing we learned about things that happen during upper and lower Canada to confederation.
We also did a shot story Tuesday almost every Tuesday. During short story Tuesday we read short stories like: “Pretty Like a White Boy” By Drew Hayden Taylor, “The Moosehide Gloves” By Alan S. kesselheim, and “Idyl of the Isle” By Susan Francis Harrison. We also watched this really cool ted talks:
To help give us ideas for the main project which was to create a Heritage Minute. Basically a heritage minute is a 60 second video about an impactful something or someone for Canadian history Watched at least two every class. If you wanna find out more about what heritage minutes are the go the the historica website
For this project we were put into groups my group was Aedan, Izzy, Anika and myself. We also got a general theme or category for what our video was to be about ours was arts and culture. Since sports falls under that category we decided to do the Stanley Cup. To begin with we had to do a lot of research because we needed lots of details for the video. Then we had to create a story out of that research which was very difficult because it had to fit into 60 seconds. Here is our story spine:
Then we had to right a screen play:
Then we filmed it. over the course of filming we made some minor revisions either because of the audio or something wasn’t right. But in the end here is our final product:
This is some feedback we got from Ryan Bamett and Joanne Archibald at Historica Canada the creators of History Minutes:
