This year in PLP each year there is a different main medium. That medium is the way we present our learning and work most of the time that year. This year the medium is Video. This post is about how to make an awesome video. In the first term of this year we have done lots to learn how to create a good video and one f the things we did was create a rubric:
The first thing on the rubric is that it need to have a good story. An example of a good story is my groups Ghost Town video from the Alberta Field Study. I think it’s a good example of a good story because it follows the story spine. It is easy to understand because it has a beginning, middle and an end. Also because it follows one of the story charts which makes the it easier for the viewers to follow the story.
The second column on the rubric is about having good audio. A video of mine that is a good example of this is my Take Your Kid to Work Day video. This is a good example because the music fits what is being shown really well and it fits the theme of the video. Another thing I try and include in my videos with the audio is to have the music lineup with the transitions and if there is a big bass drop or something of the sorts I try and have that lineup with a really important or big transition. Also you have to make sure your audio of people talking or your voice overs are really clear and people can understand easily. One more thing is that you need to make sure that the different pieces of audio are at good volumes in relations to each other. These thing just make the experience much better for the viewers and add a lot to your video.
The third thing is the cinematography. One of my videos that does this really well is my live Event Video about Monopoly. It a good example because I think I tried extra hard on that on with the filming of it. It uses lots of different angles like: low, high, close ups, long shots and just lots of different angles that you want to have to make it interesting. It also has lots of different types of media everything from stills too slow motions, and that really makes it look good and that’s what your trying to do with your cinematography make it look good.
The forth and final row of the is the editing of the video. A good example of this from the videos that I have done is my Identity Video. This because I think it was really well put together. Some of the thing that make this video well put together are the transitions are very smooth and are timed well. Also there is the right amount of use of some effects there’s not to much but just enough to make them actually add to the Quality of the video.
That’s some of the things that make a good video other videos that we have made are our: passion video, tell a story video, Recreation Video video, Chem Stories Video.
Anyway making videos has been a lot of fun so far. For me it’s not the preferred method of presenting my work mainly because I hate talking and listening to myself talk. But I do enjoy making them and working with others on them.
