My First Exabiton

Hi, it was my first exabition if you want to hear how it went read my blog post. I’ll tell you what it was about and the process! 98% read so don’t be that 2% that doesn’t!

EXABITION

This was my first exabition and overall I think it went ok. There were a lot of things to do in order to get to the final exabition. The only way it works is if the whole group contributes on the work. I found that quickly and it was a very important thing. It was very stressful because you had to be very organized with parents coming and listening all night, if something happens backstage the person reading at the time will have to come up with something else to say so that the tableau is ready. We presented three tableaus

in a performance, medieval, renaissance and modern.

MEDIEVAL TABLEAU

The Medieval tableau was the tableau I was reading for and our first tableau. The Medieval tableau had many aspects representing the time and how it is different and connects to our worldview today. The boat and the map display geography and are very important because that’s how we navigated through time in finding new places and fighting in the crusades. We added crops, such as wheat to show economy because it shows how people survived and got wealthier. Having food, crops, and land made you much wealthier and respected. Things changed once we started using money though. We have added a reader because people gained knowledge through books as well as share it. Books and stories were very important because a lot of the knowledge we have from that time is through old books. The medieval time was a different time than modern but similar in some ways.

RENAISSANCE TABLEAU

The renaissance had many features that were similar to the medieval times but the renaissance had many new innovations. We still have included which will also be in the last tableau to show how they evolved over time. Trading was still a big thing that impacted a lot of things. In our tableau there is a pig being traded for a bible. Since the king ruled we have included a king stabbing the earth with sword. The king had a big impact on society and how it effected the growth of time. Every decision makes a change on history. In the corner there is also a clock because that was a way to tell time and a step into technology.

MODERN TABLEAU

This was our last tableau and the modern one. It shows social media obviously because the effect of social media is a huge factor to our worldview today. We have put in a cruise ship because boats have gotten so advanced and they are so different from the medieval and renaissance. We created a giant phone with someone in it being the person inside. It doesn’t show in the picture but we had hate coming out of it too because with social media and videos comes hate and comments and accusations. Phones and iPads have become so advanced and can be used for good and bad. There are two people reaching for the phone because people are drawn to tech. We also added a Christmas tree with money underneath because everything is so expensive now. The prices just keep going up. This was our last tableau but it also in my opinion, shows our worldview with technology and so many advances.

THE PROCESS

We didn’t just get there in a day though, it took several weeks to get our tryptic ready. Where did we start? It started by thinking about our worldviews and how things were different in the medieval and renaissance time. Teamwork and communication was super important because we all had to decide what aspects we would choose to represent the time. For an example we decided to have a boat in every tableau so that it could show the change over time. We had to write scripts as well to inform the audience what is the reasoning behind our tableau, it had to be 20 seconds but we went a little bit over, the tricky part is being able to get ready into new costumes within that amount of time. The roles of who was being who didn’t matter because we are all in it, the thing that mattered was who was reading for each tableau. The next thing we did was make props and figure out how we were making that, the structure would matter if we were moving it around all night. Detail matters, that was a tip we got. It shows how hard we worked to make it presentable and enjoyable. That part was long painting, cutting, and preparing but then we had to practice. I think the practice part was one of the most important parts, if we had gone and presented without practicing we would have been very unprepared and unorganized. This process I think for my group at least went pretty smoothly, so when it was presenting day we were ready.

RENAISSANCE INDIVIDUAL ART EXPLANATION

Topic sentence

The past matters to us today because by using it to understand our worldview we further see we have more rights and freedom.
Beliefs:
For beliefs I chose god because during the Renaissance god was a big focus. They believed that god was the way to happiness and all wanted to go to heaven, since there were such high expectations for heaven it was mostly white men going to heaven. Thats what they thought at least. I think that it wasn’t right because people would be giving up all their money to the king so their sins would be forgiven. Even though we weren’t in that time period we can still relate because god never went away and there are sins that people still accidentally commit when Christian. You can’t swear, be gay and a lot more according to god. Because of that there was a very big amount of people who either didn’t want to be Christian anymore because of rules and other things that were not within the beliefs. With that comes a lot of hate to the community since they are homophobic or some Christians.
Society
Rulers were very important because they determined if there would be fair rules and if people would be treated equally. The ruler or king would hold society and say how it would be. If you were poor than you would not have the same rights and respect. Kings may have not been fair but they still held together society and without them the world would be crazy. Even throughout the pros and cons kings and queens helped our world. Now a days things and rules have changed. People do have some equal rights and its not necessarily wanted to be in the throne. There have been rulers who have stepped down because the rules are so strict. You can’t marry certain people because the public doesn’t approve and you’ll get hate if they don’t approve which means basically losing everything. There is a difference between then and now but there sure could be a better and bigger difference.
Time
For time I chose the sun because it was a very great innovation that helped tell time through centuries. Still today we use the sun as a way to tell time when our electronics or watched aren’t working. This is very important because we can’t rely on our phones and watches because you never know if their going to die or going to not work. Gen z and Gen alpha don’t really know what its like without electronics and its concerning because the future can’t just be tech. The world is in danger and tech is not the solution. We need to look back on things that helped people in the past such as telling time with the sun so we aren’t always looking at a phone but at nature and being so in it. There are so many reasons that telling time with the sun is important and so many ways it helped generations before us.

MY ARTWORK BEFORE I MADE CHANGES

We started by choosing a renaissance artwork and putting our face in it. The first step was easy, but then we had to put other aspects into it. We had to incorporate innovations or uses of the renaissance to our art. There are many examples and you can read all about why I chose these certain images to represent.

MY ARTWORK AFTER I MADE CHANGES

CONCLUSION

This was my first ever exabition and through all the stress, preparing and work I think it paid off, we worked very hard and it showed. The things I would have wanted to tell myself before this project would probably be to bring more supply’s from home, there are so many people using the ones the school provides there was barely any paint left halfway through. I just like going with the flow and staying organized at the same time, this was a great first exabition and I look forward to the next one.
