Have you ever made a video game?! Well read about my story. I made a video game on a website called Scratch. Read about my experience with it!

There were many steps involved including many set backs. My first game got deleted so I had to restart! This made me mad but I knew I would have to eventually so I restarted. The coding wasn’t that hard once you understood what you had to do in order to make things seen and then change backgrounds. One major tip is to watch videos, I watched videos on things I didn’t know how to do and they helped so much.

STEP ONE 

The first thing we did was we had to come up with the game. This had to include some of our knowledge of the atom. My first try of the game I realized my game didn’t include knowledge of the atom. There are many ways to include knowledge, you can make a trivia game, I included facts about the atom. 

STEP TWO

The next thing you should do is figure out the characters you want. If you know what kind of game you want you can make the character related to the game or it can be something completely random. I made a catching game but at the end I included a gorilla. I didn’t have many characters but I had things to connect on my knowledge of the atom.

STEP THREE

Start making the game. This is when you should start to search up tutorials and if your making a movement game get your movements in first. There is a lot of different coding and a little mistake or wrong code will mess up your game a lot so make sure you pay attention to the words. Depending on the game your making there will be more steps but I made a pretty simple game. Then you have to add all the information in there.

REFLECTION

This project has helped me grow my technology skills a lot, I learned so much about coding. There are many things that I could improve on. First you should definitely know the criteria, know what you have to add so that you don’t make a whole game and have to restart. I think one thing I wish I knew before is to watch videos if you want to know how to make a code or to make your object do something. The one thing I think I did well was when my game got deleted I realized it and started on a new one right away. I worked super hard and got it done pretty quickly. overall on this project obviously it wasn’t my best work but it was also my first time coding so there is a lot of room for improvement. 

TIPS!

• Make sure you save your game each time so it doesn’t get deleted.
• Take a screenshot or photo of your user name because sometimes it logs you out.
• Ask for help or watch a video is your confused.
• Don’t rush it.
