Skiing Geek Out

Skiing, Why It Matters To Me

Skiing matters to me because it has a big connection through my family and life. Skiing has been a big part of my family, especially my dads side, My dad had a festival, called the World Ski and Snowboard Festival. When I was two years old, I started skiing, since then, I’ve been skiing my whole life and I ski every winter at tons of different locations. Skiing has become a big part of my life because of how much I do it, and with my current state, I won’t be losing that interest anytime soon. I ski every winter at Whistler and Blackcomb, its my favourite spot. My favourite runs are Cloud 9, Whistler Bowl, Pakalolo,   Terrain parks, Gun barrels, and Raven.

Common Questions and Practical Answers About Skiing

“Where is the best spot to ski?”

I recommend Whistler for the amount of terrain, but Seymour and the local mountains are good too, for a shorter drive

“What is the hardest run you have ever done?”

Sudan Couloir, Blackcomb

“What makes a run hard”

The steepness, and condition of the run, as well as how wide it is.

“Is it hard to ski in powder vs slush, or easier?”

Skiing in powder is easier if you have the right gear, slush is easy to get caught in.

“What is better, Whistler or Blackcomb?”

It depends what you prefer, steep?, gentle?, moguls? Personally, I like Whistler more.

                 Geek Out Reflection

The blogging process went great, I was a bit behind when I came in the class because I was sick for a week but I caught up quickly, I wrote about skiing which is one of my biggest passions/geek out topics and I enjoyed it a lot. This was different from other blog posts because i found it was really personal. I had pictures of myself, writing about myself, and I felt a strong connection. Because of this I enjoyed this a lot. I love what we did and I would love to write and post more about this. This actually uncovered a lot about myself, I realized I could get a lot out of me and I actually learned how much passion I have for skiing and I appreciate much more now. Not only did I learn about myself but i learned facts about skiing. I also learned a lot more about blog 44, at one point i lost my work, but I figured out how to get it back because it was a draft.

The hardest past was going through and bolding certain words after I copied and pasted the document. Another hard part is when I lost the document, I thought it was over. The easiest part was publishing it and reviewing it with a freind, its nice knowing your done and seeing your work all finished. I think I will continue to post on my blog but only for stuff I like in my free time. I might even keep adding to the skiing geek out once the season really starts. This could be adding more photos or stories of what I’ve done in real life.

Overall, I am happy with my blog post, it is my favourite one so far.
