DI reflective blog post

After many months preparing, building, scripting, and testing, we completed our first DI tournament and the second one is coming next.

So at some point last year or so we were introduced to DI, it was explained in a maker class on a slideshow. So a few months later the teams were set and I was in the engineering group with

Eloise

Siena

Sven

Sawyer

Cole

here are there blogs

What we were doing before the tournament

so most of the time we were building the device and our backdrops and planning our props. So we did spend some time at school some days before semester 2 working on backdrops and we did some work in class. We did meet up at my house once to do work, but we did not get much done there. Also the Eloise and Siena were working on the story and the scripts and basically everything else.

The tournament 1

so the first DI tournament was not fun at all, we had to be at school at 8:30 on a Saturday which was very annoying for me and I wanted to go snowboarding with my dad but I couldn’t because i had to stay there the whole time. So we did our performance and after that. We just went around watching everone else’s preformances instead before the reward ceremony. So at the ceremony we got first place for our performance and we were just happy that we beat the private schools. Video coming end of may

DI tournament 2

Reflection

So for my first DI tournament. We did really well because we got first place for our solution. But our teamwork was really good during the performance and a special shoutout to Eloise to doing most of the work over the past few months! Also what I probably want to improve on are the device and making our backdrops better and doing more. Also how I contributed is going to tutorial for team meetups and I did assist the girls on making the backdrops and providing my dads tools for my team.

Power play or how it started reflective post👍

After a painful few weeks, I have complete my second humanities, Power Play Or How It Started.

so over the past few weeks and a lot of homework later, I have completed a new humanities project, Power play or how it started. The driving question for this project is,”How can we learn from the past and why it matters today.” So the final product for this project is a medieval painting with us in it.

What I did over the few weeks

So what I did over the past few weeks were basically the same as my last humanities project. It’s the end of the world as we know it. So the main thing I did over the past few weeks is read a book called the book of the Lion. I’d say the book is a 4/10, Not a great book, but I was forced to read it anyway. We had to do other tasks and one of the tasks were to make a drawing about how empires lose and gain power. I know, I’m a terrable drawer.

The final product

So the final product was a medieval art piece starring me. I used Superimpose X to add all of the things and aspects of medieval worldview. So when I was first introduced to superimpose in my maker class, I already played around with the distortion feature to warp peoples faces. Also using superimpose is quite easy and it is fun to use and overall. I was happy with the results and after making my art, I had to make a paragraph explaining my art.

What I learned from this

So the main thing I learned in this project were the crusades and generally, the medieval days. So how I learned about this was the many investigation I did in this project and reading the book of the lion. I feel like I did better in this project than my last one, I got less revisions in this project than my last one, and I like that because I am less stressed out and stuff. And that is what I learned in this project. See you next time

The Great Law Of peace And The Haudenosaunee Today

Have you ever heard about the great law of peace and the haudenosaunee, I have never heard of them until now.

So what exactly is the haudenosausee. The Haudenosausee is a confederacy of six first peoples nations and they all live in the Eastern part of Canada , mainly in Ontario and Quebec. And also, what does the name mean as well, it means “ people who build the house.”

So the haudenosausee probably started a very long time ago(we don’t actually know exactly when it started) so in the beginning, the five nations were at war at each other. So then someone called the creator, sent peacemakers around and eventually, they all formed the great law of peace and the Haudenosaunee.

I think in my option, the great law of peace is a lot like our government, which is democratic. Also, they follow a bunch of rules from a very very very long time ago. Like they embrace nature for example, and they all follow a bunch of traditions from their ancestors.

So I think what we can learn from this is that unity and preservation are key in our lives, like some society’s believe in unity and following old traditions
