To start off humanities 9 we are starting by learning about identity. Our first inquiry question is “How does the land impact our identity”. A few things we did in our first few classes was write a paragraph answering the inquiry question just by brainstorming, and we made a video in groups talking about Deep Cove’s identity as a group, and few key aspects that make it like that.

Wherever you grow up, certain features about the land you lived on influence how you see yourself. I see myself as wealthy and very lucky to be living in North Vancouver, where there are beautiful trees, mountains, and the ocean.

I also feel that since I live in such a beautiful place with so much nature, that I do a lot more outside than I would in a different type of land.

British Columbia’s identity is very based off of the First Nations culture here. That is because the land we live on has lots of First Nations landmarks . Since we do live on land like this I believe that the people who are the closest to me and myself all have a lot of respect for First Nations culture.
