My First MPol

About my learning
This is my first year of high school and of PLP. I had had two PLP class maker and humanities. This blog post will be focused on my learning in my PLP class this semester. I will also have links to all the blog post about the project
Maker was one of my two PLP class this semester in this class we did two project our first being the outsider book this was also our first project of the year. We went into groups of six and read the outsider book we had to do six different jobs. The reason we read this book is because you can relate allot of it to the real world and your self. This was our fists major assignment so I spent allot of my time figuring things out like how to use the apps. In this assignment there are a few things i could have done better like putting more detail and effort into my work. After this project I think my work improved a lot in my my projects.
Our second project of maker was the avatar box and exhibition (the avatar box assignment blog post- https://www.blog44.ca/jacks/2023/01/04/my-avatar-box/) in this assignment we watched James Cameron’s movie of avatar at school ( I didn’t watch at school, but allot of kid did) this movie wasn’t very good in my opinion it was more just the visuals not actual story. For this we chose a theme statement, our options where militarism, corporate greed, racism. I chose corporate greed and we had to right about
In maker I think i have hit my learning goal and next year iIm going to set higher expectations for myself. Setting a higher goal in my learning plan will push me reach to for better work. Setting higher goals for my self will also help me out side of school. Now that I have a better understanding of what maker class is I’m going to be able to set a more accurate learning plan assessment. My goal for next year maker is definitely going to be extending.
whey we chose and made a box that best describes our theme statement. The avatar box project was my favourite one yet I really liked getting my hand one with my work.
In humanities we had three assignments making interesting images, the crusades/dark ages and radical innovations. In they making interesting images reject we learned how to take photos using different angles to change the way things look (https://www.blog44.ca/jacks/2022/11/28/making-interesting-images/). We also know have been working on learning how to draw on he sketch’s pro app and make thing look 3-d using shading and angels. I did not like drawing that much but doing this made. My interest for drawing grow.
The dark ages
The dark ages was my favourite project of the year so far in this class we learned about the crusades and the dark ages we spent a lot of time learning about the laws they had in the kingdom and why the dark ages and the crusades started. I liked they way we presented our learning using keynote. Also i like learning about history and ;earning about his is helping me with the project we are doing know about he Renaissance.

The renaissance
In the innovations of the renaissance we are making a triptych( what is a triptych https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triptych. ) we are putting innovations in two this art to display what we have learned about the renaissance. in this class we also learned how to mange our time using the calendar and things app which has really helped with my time organizing make work so much more efficient. We are using SuperimposeX to make the triptych .
In humanities semester one, i think that i have hit my learning goal of extending. I have strived to hit this goal and have asked teacher and peers if i think i have hit this goal on a assignments and what i can do to make it better meet my learning plan goal. I could have tried to be a bit more organized by adding more things to things but now i have done that. I hope that in the next semester of humanities I will also hit my learning plan goal by learning from my mistakes this semester.
The transition from grade 7 to grade 8
The transition from grade 7 to grade 8 was not to hard the bit I worried the most about was not getting to class that never( which is good)/. Going into PLP was hard but not as hard as i thought it would be the teachers and peers made it allot easier. Joining PLP was good choice to join for me working on the iPad has made writing an activity i enjoy not some that I don’t like. Working on iPad i can type way faster then i can write allowing me to get more done in shorter periods of time would definitely suggest joining PLP.
What does my work tell you about me as a learner
If you look at my work from the beginning of the year you will see a big improvement. I have strived to add more detail to my work and pay more attention in class i think i have hit the goal of adding more detail to my work if you look at my old blog post to my new one you will see a big difference. I think that I could still work on paying more attention in class something, i will try not to sit next to people I don’t work well with. I think my work demonstrates that i you’ve hit a majority of my learning plan goals. next semester i will hopefully hit me goal for science class with miss Katy
