If you missed it better luck next time we’re in town. For one night only we were the PLP travelling Canadian History Exhibition, the best PLP exhibition to this date.
Here is why. The 2016 PLP winter exhibition was the best one I’ve been apart of to this day. Ms. Willemse and Mr. Hughes might say it’s about time but we finally got the hang of it. We finally hosted an exhibition that was rewarding for everyone involved. The students were heavily invested into the project because it was a project that gave everyone the opportunity to do something they were interested in. This made us realize from the start that it was an opportunity to create something together that we could be proud of. For example Mike used the exhibition to display his go-cart that he built in his garage, and Luciano got a chance to show his skills on the saxophone. This exhibition was the first for some and I think it was a good team building experience because it really was a team effort.
However, because this was still a time sensitive project it was not without speed bumps. There were times when I thought we wouldn’t finish and the exhibition would be missing a start. The root of the majority of our problems lied in that we made a plan and assumed everything would work according to the plan. We didn’t realize until late that the amount of space we had was too big for the resources we had. We didn’t have enough props to fill a lot of empty spaces. This led to some late night flight room arts and crafts. We were literally working on props up until minutes before the start time. We improvised some set design, and even learned a little bit about lighting the hard way, but other than that the product was something’s to be proud of.
