Welcome my fellow viewers to a basic summarization of my SLC. For those who don’t know what an SLC is, it is a Student Led Conference. This is where The student shows the work he/she is most proud of and how much he/she has grown as a learner.

Now I am going to share with you projects that I am most proud of, projects that show an example of my learning, and shows my growth mindset.

One of the projects I am most proud of this year is the History in 5: 5 things you didn’t know about Women at Hanford. I am most proud of this project because of how dedicated our group was. We all had little sections throughout the movie that we worked on, combined them together, than as a group decided what did and didn’t need to be fixed. Not only was my group and I proud of our work, our teachers loved it so much we were chosen to present it at the North Vancouver School District board meeting. The executive board directors were also were very happy with what we had accomplished.

Being in the PLP program involves you being around really smart and creative people. Every class I learn something new from one of my classmates. My classmates have been a key role to making my work the way it is. I start to look at other people’s to blog to get an idea. My classmates have really helped me grow as a learner. The first project I posted on my learning portfolio was about the CPR (Canadian Pacific Railway) called “The Plains Trains”. I thought my creative element of the newspaper was really good, but the actual post on my blog was lacking. It was quite short and just a wall of text. I hadn’t inserted any pictures to give the readers eyes a break. Looking at this post than comparing it to my post about the activities during the Great Depression called the “bluenose”. Doing my bluenose project I had asked people in the classroom about how to make your blog look good and eye catching. I had looked all around the classes blog to turn mine into a piece of art. This post is a lot longer, I made sure to pay more attention to detail, and inserted a lot of photos so readers wouldn’t dread a long read.

Last but not least, the “Halifax explosion”. I was in a group with Michael S, Michael F, and Zakaria. During the time we had to make this we were in the middle of another project so our time was limited. We had built a script and the script was amazing but we never had class time to film because we had no access to a green screen. So we had tried to film all of it in a night because of conflicting time schedules we could not film during the day. We had a movie but our group knew we could’ve done a lot better. When I watch the video I think of all the stuff We could’ve done to make it better. We definitely could’ve had scenes were the person talking was in the distance rather than a closeup. We definitely also should have spent a lot more time and dedication to filming the movie the way we wanted it to be. But this project has been a lesson to all of us to not push back times and to put the effort in to get the results we want.
