User Guide: Julia
Brand: PLP learner
Model: Julia iOS 1.3
PRODUCT GUIDE
Congratulations on your new PLP learner and sports player Julia 1.3, commonly referred to as “Julia”, “J” or “Jules.” Your new learner comes with functions including, but not limited to, the following:
– Expressing my determination and love of sports
– Being calm and self driven while learning
– Offering encouragement to teammates and peers
GETTING STARTED
Before you access Julia for the first time, you will need to make sure you have come equipped with up to date sports news, and snacks so she doesn’t go hungry. Your Julia responds favourably to users who work hard and are kind to fellow peers.
ACCESSIBILITY
Julia is very easily accessible during the day. Julia is often seen in with her friends walking to classes, or in class, but she can also be found eating lunch with her friends on the school premises.
After school, Julia can be reached via email, or iMessage. Julia will do her best to respond to your messages in a timely manner, though her extracurriculars include sports-mode and homework-mode and you may need to use multiple methods of communication to ensure your message is received.
SETTINGS
Julia has three primary settings: Student, Regular Person, and Sports player.
Setting 1: Student
This is the mode you most often will work with your Julia 1.3. This is her default setting from 9 until 3pm. Julia is responsible for four disciplines within Humanities, Maker, PE, and French. However, she is not limited to these functions. She also initiates friend mode throughout the day and sometimes stops to talk to a friend in the hall while getting water, or walking to the bathroom.
Setting 2: Regular Person
In regular person mode, you may encounter Julia in the community. She engages in many of the normal functions of a regular person: shopping with her her Mom or Dad at the local grocery stores, biking around with her friends, attending my sports games and practices, going to the movies and helping within the community. Should you encounter her in one of these roles, do not be afraid to come say hi! She will be genuinely happy and excited to see you.
Setting 3: Sports Player
Careful when engaging Julia in this mode. This is her most energetic state. When Julia 1.3 is in this mode she will engage you in conversations without prompt. Be prepared to talk about the teams defence, offence, special teams, goaltending, if the coaching is the ‘right fit,’ and her team’s overall chances to make it to the playoffs. Julia has been known to spiral at the mention of these and many more sports related topics, and it may become difficult to accomplish the task at hand. Don’t fret though, these practices and games usually run between 1-2 hours. After the practice or game is over she will start to calm down, and she will be approachable again.
WARNINGS
This device may…
- Get carried away during lessons when talking about topics that interest her, specifically Sports.
- Inundate you with ‘story time’ when she has previously experienced something interesting relating to the topic of conversation.
- Exhaust you with her relentless optimism and energetic attempts aimed at keeping you engaged while she is talking.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem | Solution |
Do not come too close to her while she working. | Approach her carefully, because while she is in this state, she has a thought in her head, and will be upset if she loses her train of thought. Try talking to her after she’s done, or after she looks up from her work. |
You are being unkind, and disrespectful to her friends and family. | Talk it out with her. She is open to chatting, but keep it on topic or this will annoy her. Her friends and family are the most important to her, so you have to find a way to be kind, or as she said, talk it out with her. |
You are struggling with something outside of school and need some support. | Come talk to Julia. She will listen to you, and sometimes even have advice for you. Sometimes she can relate to you, because it has happened to her before. |
