It’s the student blogging challenge week 7! Week 7 is all about celebrations and festivities. The celebration that I chose to write about is right around the corner. It’s Christmas! Christmas is one of my favourite holidays because all of your family comes together to have a big dinner. Also the presents are really good. For this week we had to complete 2 tasks. The tasks that I chose were a holiday photo and a holiday poem.
Task 1: For task 1 I chose to pick a photo from a celebration and write about the significance of it. The photo that I chose was a big christmas dinner.
This photo really means a lot to me because my family always has a big dinner and this photo in particular includes crackers. Every year my family gathers around the table for a big turkey dinner. The dinner is cooked by my mom and dad together and it is always delicious. Sometimes my extended family comes over and when they do it’ s really fun because I can hang out with my cousins. Unfortunately my extended family lives far away so they don’t come often. Christmas dinner is still really fun though! I also chose this photo because it includes crackers. My family has a big tradition where every Christmas we pop Christmas crackers. This tradition is really fun because inside you can get a toy or a fortune! I love this tradition and hope it continues for years to come. I even encourage whoever’s reading this to try it!
Task 2: For task 2 I picked the holiday poem. Making poems is really fun and easy! For this poem I am writing about Christmas. The type of poem is Haiku! I also incorporated a photo so the poem can be more interesting.
Every year, lot’s of cheer!
Christmas is for family.
Every night very bright!

Wow! I love learning about what other people celebrate. It is very interesting and fun to learn about. You are a good writer and keep up the good work. Also, my family has a tradition going just like yours for Christmas. It is always a great time!

Hi Julie,
Oh boy! I love Christmas crackers! We always have them, and everyone has to wear their hat. The silly toys, jokes and fortunes are fun. We love the ‘pop’ when they open.
Your haiku is lovely! Exactly right! Christmas is about family – every night, always bright! What a perfect way to describe family.
Thanks for a terrific post. What do you want for Christmas this year?
