Hello everyone and welcome to my blog, for this week of the student blogging challenge we got to chose a topic for our posts. And I’ve decided to write about something I’m passionate about, singing. I’ve sung with a teacher for four years now. I originally took piano lessons but then decided to try singing, because my music teacher at the time did not teach voice lessons she suggested a friend of hers, a voice teacher that lived in the area. So I started voice lessons with my new teacher, and was really surprised to find out that there’s a lot more to singing than people think. Most people think you just sing, But there’s actually so much technique that goes into singing. Over the years I’ve learned how to control my breathing and how to use my diaphragm to sing, as well how to pronounce vowels in different octaves. After learning these main priorities to singing, Two years ago I started singing in alternate languages like Italian, French, Spanish, German and Latin. Through singing I’ve gained more confidence when it comes to presenting because I was singing four to five times a year in concerts or non competitive festivals with many people in the audience. My favourite part of singing is presenting and sharing with other singers and musicians which is something I get to do annually with the north shore music festival.
During these festivals we would be assessed and critiqued by professional singers. Which played a major part in my improvement as a singer because I got good feedback to help me improve. Comment down below if you take music lessons as well or if you have any questions about singing, thanks for visiting my blog.
