This is my first weekly post for our new humanities project In Their Own Words, which is all about WW2, specifically how we can use stories to understand its causes and consequences.
We began this project how we normally do, with a launch activity. For the launch of In Their Own Words we listened to veteran stories.
Hearing these stories reminded me a lot of my own family’s WW2 stories. Specifically my Great Opa’s. He lived with his family in flensburg, Germany before the war began and was soon drafted to France to serve as a mechanic. Hearing these other veteran stories reminded me how much I wanted to document his story. Since he passed away long ago I can’t use his story in my project, but I thought I would make a piece of content for this weeks post to depict his story.
