In 1969, over 400,000 people traveled to Bethel ,NY to attend what would become the greatest event in all of music history.
Woodstock featured some of the most legendary musicians of all time, including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who, Santana, and many others. It was a three-day event that lasted from August 15th to 18th, and it was marked by a sense of camaraderie, love, and togetherness.

Woodstock was not just a celebration of phenomenal musical talent surpassing industry standards, but it also served as a symbol to the influential force of counter culture and the inspiring capacity of music for protest.
Overall, Woodstock became a symbol of hope and possibility and a defining event of the 1960s as well as a standard leading into the 70s and onwards. This is likely why โWoodstockโ was featured in Billy Joelโs song โWe Didnโt Start the Fire.โ

Throughout the last month my class has been working on a fascinating project based on Billy Joelโs โWe Didnโt Start the Fire.โ Each of us were tasked with choosing a historical event referenced within the song. We would then research our topic and create a 30 minute lesson to teach to our class.ย
