Mpol- reflection, success and plenty of failure along the way.

I have come a long way since the beginning of the year.

And along the way I have had many accomplishments aswell as almost twice as many “failures”

A great example of this is at the begging of the year we started a project in humanities based around advertising and creating our own ads.

When we started off I had still been getting used to using an iPad for all my work , and managing my time , So this project was a great way to familiarize myself with the various apps I had on my iPad and the life of a student in PLP. Our project was split into parts and started off with small assignments building up to creating our deep cove add and eventually our Oregon ads. Oregon ad blog post, deep cove ad blog post.

Here is my deep cove ad which I am proud of even though it wouldn’t be my best work now. While making this ad I sometimes became frustrated or angry and struggled with design and ideas and I found myself ignoring it or not spending enough time working on it.

And here is my Oregon ad which I think I did a better job of . For this ad I managed my time and paid more attention to detail, as well as basing my ad around what I thought of the business.

Both of these ads represent my progress and my struggles and even failure over that time period and this project has taught me to manage my time and to keep persisting even if you have no ideas and four hours you can do it.

Speaking of (but not actually speaking this is a blog post) designing , creating and attempting to make things look adequate let’s talk about maker………

In maker our main focus for a while was the student blogging challenge.

For the student blogging challenge we had to write blog posts weekly that had to do with those weeks tasks. I think the main reason we did the student blogging challenge was to become better bloggers and that I did. My first blog posts were not the best but overtime I got a lot better and I learned how to write a proper blog post and how to embed books , videos and photos.

Here is my first blog post for the student blogging challenge.

And here is my last one.

I am really proud of my improvements but think I can do a lot better.

around the same time in the science part of scimatics we were focusing on the theory of tectonic plates.
We started off by watching some videos and taking notes , and then were assigned a research project about earthquakes and tsunamis. Later on we were assigned to write a children’s book about the theory of tectonic plates by taking all the information we learned earlier and simplifying it for younger kids. While completing these projects I learned how to take previous work and kind of recycle it and turn it into something else, as well as the importance of managing time and paying attention to instructions to get all the information figured out. While learning about tectonic  plates in science we started learning about the Pythagorean theorem, and just to begin I have never been good at math. But this year I put a little more effort into my work and focused and took more notes which proved to help me with the math problems and I did get a lot better and I really want to continue to do so for the rest of this year and high school.

A while after most of these projects were completed we  started a new course PGP. The main goal in this course is to set goals for yourself and be able to eventually set your self up to exceed them. To focus more on that we were told to keep a journal and read a book called what do you really want, and in this journal keep you’re goals for school and outside of school. While keeping this journal I found some interesting ways to plan and essentially set myself up to succeed. For example some of my goals include staying on top of work, continuing to work well with peers and take  responsible risks.

So far my year has been fantastic I’ve come along way with my learning and I want to continue to do exactly that so my question for you based off of what you’ve learned about me is what do you think I should do to not only improve my work but motivate myself to have a growth mindset and strive to do by best?

Goodbye for now,Kaia
