Us Canadians aren’t just maple syrup loving lumberjacks who play hockey, we have some of the most beautiful landscapes in the whole world we are in the 8% of the world that lives in a full democracy.

With the driving question of our project being why does the world need more Canada every single student had to make an essay and podcast on the subject. I chose to do mine on the global impacts of the sea to sky gondola. This topic spoke to me for a ton of reasons but three of the main reasons I chose this were that I have connections to people working there in both managerial positions and as lifties so I could get authentic opinions, I have been up to the top a bunch of times by both hiking up and taking the gondola so I have had an authentic experience and that nature is something I care about a lot.

Every student had to make a essay originally to get a full idea on what our podcasts would be. This was difficult for me because it was my first time writing a full essay in English and so I went into this project with no idea how long the essay would take which both helped me and made it worse. With this stress on if I could do it I really started focusing on the essay and got behind in other classes like math, but with all the effort I put into this essay I really think it some of the best work I have done in PLP so far.

For the actual creation of the podcast I didn’t do my best work but I still put in a lot of effort. I had to record the audio at school because there was a lot of construction happening around my house which sadly doesn’t make great background audio for a podcast about nature. I am usually the type of person to try to keep everything a bit more simple and be able to excel at the things I am good at and the written was more down my alley but recording and adding sound effects wasn’t as much my style. There was a minimum number of five audio enhancements that you had to add and I think I included four (sorry Ms Kadi). I was very passionate about this subject and it kept me fully engaged in my work throughout the whole project and that helped me focus on getting my work done when I had the time.

Another unique assignment we did was the thinking Thursday where we had to go research a current event. I chose to do the Olympics and the controversies that surrounded it I talked about the Canadian women’s soccer team cheated the women’s boxing controversy and many other different bad things, but also a lot of good things and I saw Canada was only a part of one of many scandals at the Olympics. Canadians were tied to nearly every single one of the amazing supportive things that happened like equal parts of women to men at the Olympics for the first time.

That just proves my point that the world could use a larger dose of Canadians.
