Environmentalism Petition Blogpost

Driving Question: Why should we remember the history of environmentalism and sustainability within Canada, and how do we respond today?

Welcome to the final post

In these crazy times due to Covid-19 we have been through a lot and I hope that we will get to go back to school, but during the last few weeks of school before  the summer vacation of 2020, my classmates and I studied the topic of environmentalism in Canada.

Like how all my projects start, my class and I were assigned to choose a type of environmental disaster. For this interesting project I choose the cycle of sustainable and clean energy. Each student was assigned to create some form of a call to action, as many people chose posters and podcast, rather I chose to create a website with a petition about non renewable vs renewable energy sources, which I will talk about a little later.

Topics & tasks

For my artificial I chose to create a website on wix as well as a petition which will be posted in the comments sections. I chose clean and sustainable energy because I am interested to know what the future’s power resources may look like and how there plan to generate power does not harm the environment.

In our first week during the creation of this project, my classmates and I were assigned to choose a current event within the last 5-10 years regarding environmentalism and sustainability within Canada. Our second task was to watch documentaries (Before the flood & DamNation) and talk about the environmental effects the world has, and how we have contributed in the past and today. Pls click on the links below if you would like to check out the documentaries e watched in class.

Research and Final Project

As my class and I approached the second week during the creation of this project, we were given a timeline of 1 week to complete all of our research, as our project were due last week on June 12 2020. Of course before the creation of any of mint projects, I had to start with research, so fun!

During my research I decided to split up my research as I talked about the environmental disasters from looking back Into the past, looking into the current day, and looking ahead into the future. During my research I discovered that almost all of Canada’s energy comes from renewable energy sources, as 59% comes from hydro dams.

For my final call to action artifact I decided to create a website and a petition which will be posted below. On my website I mostly talk about the sources of non renewable vs renewable energy. During the beginning of creating this petition I struggled with the facts that needed to cover, as well I had difficulties with posting my petition as my blogpost crashed, which took forever to fix.

Overall

Overall I believe this final project as well as this final term has been successful. I feel that overall the past few months of being in a class such as this, I have had quite an experience with technology. Mainly I believe this project was a success because as soon as our teacher mentioned the creation of a petition or poster I already had a good idea of what to expect for my final piece.

But overall I believe this project was not particularly difficult but mediocre because I didn’t have to research as much as I had expected. Sometimes during the creation of this project I had wondered what the source of energy may look like in the future and a question that I kept asking myself, what will happen when the renewable energy sources we currently use running out?

Ending credits

I may not be posting on this site after this summer and possibly not next year. Thank you to the people who have been reading these and giving me tips.

If you would like to check out the final project pls click on the first link below if you would be interested in learning a little bit more renewable energy, and if you would like to give me some tips. If you would like to sign this petition and give your opinions pls click on the second link below.
