This year has been a ride that seems to never end. Whether it be Heritage Minutes or DI I have solved a bunch of problems and made even more decisions I have not only grown as a learner but also as a human. In many ways grade 8 was an introduction to the realities of a project based program grade 9 was a sentence to the truths of deadlines and working with others. Over the long journey of this year I find it easy to forget the projects and experiences of the beginning of the year as I speak to the evidence of how I have grown over the course of the year. Hopefully you will see as I do how I have learned from mistakes and allowed them to drive my success throughout the year
As I looked back at my MPOL for inspiration for my post I came across some commitments I’d like to start by reflecting on how I have done.

Don’t stop when you think it is good enough. Stop when you know it is your best work

Take more breaks when working for long periods of time

Ask for extremely direct critique from parents/peers/teachers and make the necessary adjustments

Use all the editing tools available to me

Make sure your filming location is easily accessible
I certainly haven’t perfected these but even though they weren’t totally front of mind I think they are great markers to the changes and growth over the last half of the year.
When I look back at the work that I created at the beginning of the year it’s very easy cringe. I think this is a testament to not only to how I have changed in style but also in how much I have improved in my ability to create and present my research and work. The first video we created was pale in comparison to the videos I would create just 4 months later.
I could speak to the many failures of my first video of the year or I could celebrate the learning from those experiences. A great example of this growth is the Heritage Minute project. This project had its share of failures but video production was not one of them. The videos created used a majority of the skills that we had perfected over the year. It was a culmination of how far our production skills had come.
I am very proud of how far my blog has come this year. It pains me to see my posts from even the beginning of the year. My style has come a long way in terms of how it is polished and how clear the message is. I have been able to incorporate some of my hobbies into my posts to help compliment my writing. I have been able to use my graphic artwork along with photos, GIF’s, and quotes to enhance the blog reading experience. However, the biggest improvement in my blog was the written portions of my posts.
My favourite 2 examples of my growth in my blog are the post about the Heritage Minute project and the WWI comic book project The balance between text and other multimedias to help the reader and overall I am very proud of my work on my blog this year and I am interested to see what next year will bring in terms of my blog.
As I was writing this post I felt myself coming back to theme of this post.
Crossroads..
The year looking back has had so many decisions so many fun times. It is hard to explain the whole year in such a short time but somehow I hope to reflect on all the times and crazy events. From DI to Blue sky to frankenstuffie PLP was certainly and incredible experience throughout the year and I can say even through all the hard times it was worth it and I would do it all over once again, over and over again.
