One of the projects that we’ve recently been working on is a “Dream House” assignment for math. We’ve been working up to the project by doing various worksheets on the subject of houses and the different mathematical aspects of houses such as pricing in different neighbourhoods and price to total square footage. Since no one in our class seems to be an architect or realtor that would understand that stuff easily, we practiced by doing the basics. For example, we practiced getting the total square footage of rooms or houses while there were different scales being used. Once we finished those worksheets, we finally got to start the project.

We were given a criteria for the things we have to implement into our dream houses. img_2279 The criteria itself was pretty easy to follow which was good because the interesting part about the project was that we had complete creative control over how we could design and present the house. In turn, a bunch of people made their houses on Minecraft, which usually turned out to be pretty funny. img_2286

This was a pretty good project to get our minds moving again after summer break as we haven’t done many projects for math or science. It was also relatively easy compared to the other projects we’re working on which is nice considering that we get to put more focus into those other projects and produce quality work. The big project that we’re working on is the metaphor machine that I talked a little bit about in my other blog post.

Overall, I liked working on this project and I hope we can do more projects that implement a creative aspect into our math and science projects. Those in my opinion are the most fun!
