For this project, we had to create a triptych, but that wasn’t where it started. The first thing that we did was learn about a timeline of the most important things in the Renaissance area. Then we learned how to tell which of these is the most significant by learning about historical significance. Historical significance can be determined using the acronym N.A.M.E.
Novelty
Applicability
Memory
Effect
If all three (four) of these things apply, than this is very significant. But not everything significant has all 4. And that’s okay. Some just need one or two.
For our triptych, we needed to choose one historically significant thing from each category: Individuals, the arts, inventions and societal changes. I chose: William Shakespeare, the Mona Lisa, the hourglass and cartography. Here is an image of my triptych.
That’s it for today folks. I’ll see you in our next project where I’m told there are pirates.
