UNDRIP is the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Its goal is to outline the rights Indigenous peoples have, such as the right not to be forcibly removed from their lands without consent.
Article 10 states, βIndigenous peoples shall not be forcibly removed from their lands or territories. No relocation shall take place without the free, prior and informed consent of the indigenous peoples concerned and after agreement on just and fair compensation and, where possible, with the option of returnβ. This is important because it recognizes and protects the rights of indigenous peoples to their territory and land.
